WWCHS The Tiger Yearbook 2016
In 2016 the senior section of the yearbook will be bigger than ever! Changes will include more
information about each senior in the senior portrait pages, more pictures of seniors in action, and
senior memories.
Senior Portraits – Formal*
The senior portrait is a classic tradition: we encourage you to take the time to schedule a
memorable photo session with a professional photographer. The WWCHS yearbook requires one
formal, professionally photographed, color portrait from each student. That is, a bust portrait in a
black tux/white shirt/black bow tie for guys, or a black drape for girls, taken in a studio setting
with a grey portrait background. The professional photographer can email the portrait of your
choice to me at kallal@wilkes.k12.ga.us or send a disk to WWCHS by October 1.
WWCHS will provide a professional photographer during school September 1 for those who
choose this option. Thaxton Photography of Athens will take your formal portrait in the media
center for a $10 sitting fee. You will have five proofs to choose from. This is a formal portrait
only; tuxes and drapes will be provided.
Again, WWCHS is requiring each senior to have a formal portrait which will be used for your ID
as well as in the yearbook.
Senior Portraits – Casual*
Any senior who submits a formal portrait, either from the session with Thaxton at WWCHS or
from a professional photographer of your choice, may also submit a casual portrait for the
yearbook. The casual portrait must be taken with a DSLR camera (what professionals use) and
can be in the setting and wardrobe of your choice. Again, the casual picture may be sent via email or disk by October 1 to be included in the yearbook.
Senior Ads*
Now is the time to gather all those memorable pictures for your senior ad. Details are in a
separate flyer. The ad design features a large recent portrait. The featured picture must be an
original digital file or a 5 x 7 print for the best quality. Other pictures can be as small as walletsized, prints or digital. Limits are 12 pictures for full page, and six pictures for half page ad.
Selling Business Ads to Help with Senior Expenses
You will be given the opportunity to sell business ads for the yearbook to help defray senior
expenses, such as senior ads and graduation fees (diploma, cap, gown, etc.). For every
advertising dollar you bring in, you will earn a 20% commission to be applied to your senior ad,
or if you are not purchasing an ad, the commission will be used to pay down your graduation
expenses with Josten’s. Ad sales will start with a kick-off meeting in August. You must be
assigned the businesses for selling ads.
*WWCHS reserves the right to refuse any picture that does not meet standards of quality,
taste, and appropriateness of attire and setting.
