Dancin’ with the Gourds
2015 Class Schedule for GGS GourdFest
SATURDAY 8 A.M. - 12 A.M.
1-Powertex 3D Blue Sea Shells
Price $65.00
Susan Crowe, Fletcher, NC
Come and learn all the newest Powertex sculpture techniques! I will be teaching
you how to create rock hard textures using common household items like t-shirt
material, cotton string, screws and stamps. We will be hand mixing 3D Flex
clay, dipping cotton material and incorporating natural sea shells and plaster
models. Once dried, the 3D Flex will create amazingly interesting crackle effects
. I will demonstrate the use of Powertex liquid, Stone art powder and Color
Tricx metallic pigments. We will be using a cut gourd to create our beautiful
orb.
Students will bring: Cut and cleaned 8" martin gourd or similar one in size.
A box of disposable gloves. Bring a whole box, this is really messy fun! Powertex
and diamond rings don't play well together. Light weight dust mask if desired.
This project can create some dust when mixing the clay, so anyone with dust
allergies may want a mask; A heat gun for drying; Pen and paper for additional
note taking if desired. An apron or smock, but I would also highly recommend wearing old "play" clothes! We will be
working with a textile hardening liquid and guess what it will do if you get it on your clothing? Harden it,
permanently! This product will not wash out of your clothing if you get it on you.

complete project
