Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America, Inc. (MGFA.) The event will be held at WALK SITE LOCATION. TEAM NAME

WALK WITH ME ON MY TEAM: Collect donations, raise more than $100 and get an official MG Walk T-shirt, share the
camaraderie, and feel great in knowing that you helped save lives! You can join one of our teams by going to

Form your own team within your company. Simply designate a Team Captain(s), set a goal, recruit walkers, collect
donations and join us on EVENT DATE.
MAKE A CONTRIBUTION: Support our team by making a donation online, INSERT TEAM PAGE LINK, or by writing a
check payable to the MGFA and mail it to me. All donations are 100% tax deductible! Please be sure to include my

Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune disease in which antibodies attack and destroy neuromuscular
connections, causing muscle weakness. [OPTIONAL: INSERT YOUR PERSONAL CONNECTION TO MG, “I HAVE
MG… SOMEONE I LOVE HAS MG…”] Join the fight against MG to support our local MG Heroes who are
battling this disorder every day.
I am sure that you get solicited by several non-profit organizations each year, just as I do. However,
myasthenia gravis is a debilitating and often un-diagnosed disease that affects tens of thousands of people
around the world. Raising awareness is crucial; while there are some treatments available, there
is currently no cure for MG. Help us spread the word!

Sponsorship Information
One of the best ways to raise money for your MG Walk is to research, identify and then secure cash sponsors!
Finding companies to sponsor your local MG Walk can be fun, rewarding and easy if you just make THE ASK!
Here are a few easy steps to follow and successfully secure a sponsor for to 2015 MG Walk…
1. Think of any friends/contacts who own their own business or who work at a company that may want to promote their
product and/or services by being part of the MG Walk including their logo displayed on the MG Walk website and
t-shirt…as well as having a booth at the event!
2. OR you approach a local business that you think would want to sponsor the MG Walk…could be local “Mom & Pop
Shop” or a big chain that you suspect sponsors events all the time!
3. Discover if the potential sponsor has an online application to submit a proposal and/or research who the contact is
for considering sponsorships.
4. Send the attached Proposal (and cc the MG Walk office) and customize it if you think they would only consider
certain financial levels. OR you can ask the MG Walk office to send directly to the potential sponsor.
5. Work closely with the MG Walk office on how to best follow up with the potential sponsor. Please contact the MG
Walk office (855-MGWALKS or Info@MGWalk.org) with any questions.

the requirements for donations, follow their guidelines for your request and make sure to follow up. Even if they
can’t commit to the MG Walk for this year, it will set the foundation of a relationship for next year. If you do get a sponsorship,
make sure to send out a hand written thank you note. It will be an unexpected surprise in this day and age of texts and

"I found it very easy to use our support group patients and families to garner corporate sponsorships for the New Orleans
MG Walk. I asked patients who worked to go into their boss's offices and tell them about MG, tell them that we're
doing a walk to raise awareness and research funds and ask them to support the Walk at any sponsorship level. I
asked the same request of our patients' families to ask their workplaces as well. Our sponsorships grew exponentially
through this tactic, and since our first Walk, we have stayed in touch with our sponsors, showed them how much we valued
their relationships with us through Thank You letters, sponsorship plaques and other appreciative materials, and asking

Imagine a debilitating disease that impacts every aspect
of your life. Then imagine what it’s like when no one has ever heard of your illness. That’s what life can be like for
people with myasthenia gravis -- MG.
Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune disease in which antibodies mistakenly attack and destroy neuromuscular
connections, causing weakness in muscles that control basic movements that include walking, swallowing, blinking,
breathing, and smiling. Many patients are unable to enjoy their daily lives, attend school, or work. MG can affect every
one in different ways. Every day tens of thousands of Americans of all races, genders, and ages live with life altering
symptoms. While there are treatments, there is currently no cure for MG.
About the MGFA
The MGFA is the only national volunteer health agency dedicated solely to the fight against myasthenia gravis and to
serving patients with MG. The MGFA works nationwide with MG patients, their families and caregivers through support
groups and programs.
With monies raised from the MG Walks, MGFA is committed to finding a cure for myasthenia gravis and closely related
disorders, improving treatment options and providing information and support to people with myasthenia gravis through
research, education, community programs, and advocacy.
