1. Curriculum Committee:
Scope: Oversight of approval and monitoring of standards for degrees, programs, certificates and
courses in all modes of instruction.
Tasks:
--Course approval forms for all courses in all modes of instruction.
--Monitoring processes for frequency of instruction to ensure degree and certificate progress.
--Create processes for monitoring credentials and course oversight in all dual enrollment programs.
--Create, with the Assessment Committee, a schedule and processes for the program review of all
programs and pre-majors.
--Monitor the impact of new curricula across existing programs.

2. Assessment Committee:
Scope: Oversight of focus, standards, and processes for course, program, and degree assessment
Tasks:
--Evaluate current General Education outcomes and definitions, including the use of rubrics when
appropriate
--Evaluate the current course assessment process for General Education courses to determine the value
the process has for individual faculty members with an assurance the process is faculty driven.
--Evaluate, with the Curriculum Committee, the current program assessment process for Career and
Technical Programs with a special focus on the value to faculty and the relationship of the process to
other accreditations and reviews required of Career and Technical Programs.
--Establish a pre-major assessment process for use in both the Arts and Sciences and the Career and
Technical Programs Divisions.
--Monitor and use, along with other committees, institutional data, CSCSSE data, etc.

4. Academic Pathways Committee:
Scope: Oversight of review and implementation of both Arts and Sciences and Career and Technical
Programs pathways to insure maximum alignment with four year institutions and two year degrees.
Tasks:
--review existing pathways documents for alignment purposes
--review the programs and degrees that potentially align with both two and four year degrees to
determine whether separate pathways need to exist for students with either two or four year degree
aspirations.
--review, with appropriate Student Affairs representation, the presentation and advising related to
pathway programs.

5. Faculty Entry, Training, and Professional Development Committee:
Scope: Oversight of policies and practices related to the entry, training, and professional development
of all faculty in all faculty categories
Tasks:
--Review and make recommendations regarding current faculty hiring and entry processes
--review and make recommendations regarding current faculty training practices in all categories of
faculty over the entire course of a career at this institution.
--review and make recommendations regarding current faculty professional development practices for
all categories of faculty
--create a process for the periodic review of practices related to faculty entry, training, and professional
development.
--review, with the Curriculum Committee, all entry and training practices related to dual enrollment
instruction.
--monitor other institutions and disciplinary organizations toward the end of proposing possible new

7. Student Support Committee:
Scope: Oversight, in consultation with Student Affairs, of existing forms of student support, such as
tutoring, supplemental instruction, success courses, orientation and any new academic initiatives
related to student success.
Tasks:
--review extent and effectiveness of existing tutoring programs
--review extent and effectiveness of existing supplemental instruction programs
--work with Student Affairs to ensure we offer the best possible orientation and student success courses

9. Honors Committee:
Scope: Establishment and oversight of a college honors program that serves all academic divisions well
and that aligns with national standards.
Tasks:

10. Tenure and Promotion Committee:
Scope: Review, oversight and monitoring of the tenure and promotion standards, processes, and
procedures.
Tasks:
--review, in consultation with Deans and Chairs as appropriate, current standards, policies, and
procedures, and make recommendations for change if necessary.
--review Annual Appraisal process and align it with the timing and purposes of the tenure and
promotion processes.
--develop process to monitor the outcomes of the tenure and promotion decisions.
--examine the impact of the current tenure and promotion policy on Senior Professors.
--examine the impact of tenure and promotion policies on hiring policies and procedures.
Note: Because the selection of members of the Tenure and Promotion Committee is detailed in a
Memorandum of Understanding that is part of the Contract between the Columbus State Education
Association and Columbus State Community College, the membership of this committee will follow the
provisions of that memorandum rather than use the voluntary process by which other committees were
formed.
