Scholarships are available for:
 Continuing Professional Development
 Postgraduate study
 Nurse Practitioner courses
 Nurse Re-entry courses
 Registered nursing undergraduate study
Undergraduate and postgraduate applications open in July for study in the following year. All other
applications are open in March and July.
Scholarships are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and

Scholarships are available for nurse and midwives working in an Aboriginal Medical service. These

Scholarships are available for students to undertake a clinical placement in either:
 Emergency Department
 Aboriginal Medical Service
 Tasmania
Clinical placement applications are open from February to November each year.
Undergraduate and postgraduate applications open in July for study in the following year. All other

Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme
The scholarship provides financial assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to study
at a TAFE (certificate IV and above) or entry level university course in the following professions:






Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health worker
Allied health (excluding pharmacy)
Dentistry/oral health
Medicine
Midwifery
Nursing.
Scholarships are worth up to $7,500 per year for part time study or up to $15,000 per year for full time
study and will be available for the normal duration of the course. Applications open in July for study in
the next academic year.
The Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme is funded by the Australian Government
Department of Health and Ageing, and administered by Australian College of Nursing, ACN.
