Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! Are you all wearing green today? Although we are a Dutch community in Orange City, if we pay 5$ we can wear green AND JEANS...great way to have a fund-raiser! Then of course we have to have all the traditional Irish foods, like corned beef, cabbage and crème de menthe cake (o.k., it’s not Irish, but it sure tastes good!). Actually I have an AWESOME recipe for Irish Whiskey Cake (I admit to using American whiskey). Very moist and really tasty! Even whiskey in the glaze... This is the week of the Regional Meeting in Omaha, Nebraska March 20-21 at the Doubletree by Hilton. We will meet for two days of great education and fun fellowship with ANFP members from the surrounding states. Ben tells me that over 30 people from Iowa are signed up. Great! We can have a big party when we get there! I think Ben mentioned the first round is on him... Just kidding Ben (I can see him stroking right now). If you haven’t signed up yet but are still interested, we would love to have you just show up. The more the merrier! Also, remember that registration is open on our website, www.anfponline.org/IA/ for the spring meeting, May 1-2. You can sign up using PAYPAL if you want! Just click on News and Events. You will also see our two scholarship winners with Betty Barton when you click on. Congratulations, Donna and Kylie! There are several new awards that you can apply for listed on the first page. Yes, you can nominate yourself! You could win free registration plus $250 travel expenses to the national meeting in Minneapolis. But hurry, get it in by May 1. I wanted to also tough base with you again regarding the Safe Food for Seniors website, www.safefoodcdm.org Please go to the site and click on “Be A Grassroots Volunteer” on the right side of the page. Don’t worry, you don’t have to make a donation or anything! But we want to get as many people signed up as possible. It’s easy, and it doesn’t take much time. Please sign up! Here’s another opportunity to participate from ANFP’s Government Affairs Queen, Martha Abel. Hello Grassroots Advocates! Ricky Clark, CDM, CFPP, brought the following site to my attention: https://cosponsor.gov/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=058YHjslWu4 House Majority Lead Eric Cantor has created the CITIZEN COSPONSOR PROJECT – a way for you to become even more involved in the legislative process. It’s simple to use. Just click the link, log on, and start “cosponsoring” H.R. 2181, our bill that we want to move through the House of Representatives. Invite your friends and colleagues to do the same! Rep. Cantor carries a lot of power as Majority Leader – let’s show him that the Safe Food for Seniors Act is a priority! Thanks for your support!
