Travel Plan comments April 2015
Design considerations
Consider provision of the following at each residence, in consultation with the local planning
authority:



Secure and accessible cycle storage.
High speed broadband connection.
Electric vehicle charging points (nb. At either all or a proportion of the residences, subject to
negotiation).
Consider shared space design principles where appropriate, in consultation with the Local Planning
Authority.
4 Baseline Journey trip patterns
4.4
Consider undertaking a residential travel survey for each new dwelling upon occupation, as part of
the Travel Information Pack.
Submit an initial monitoring report upon occupation of the first fifty dwellings, or six months from
first residential occupation, whichever is sooner, informed by the results of all surveys available at
that point.
Subsequent surveys should be undertaken annually for five years from the date of the initial survey.
5 Targets
5.5 Noted.
Consideration should be given to the principle of a reduction in single occupancy vehicle (SOV)
journeys by 10% from baseline over a five year period, supported by targets for all other modes.
Precise figures will be informed by the results of the initial residential travel survey.
6 Travel Plan Coordination
6.1
The name and contact details of the Travel Plan Coordinator should be supplied to the Local
Planning Authority and Derbyshire County Council at least one month prior to first residential
occupation.
7.2 Walking Measures
Ensure the Travel Information Packs include reference to the following:

10.2 Travel Survey
10.2.2
Consider the undertaking of a detailed travel survey when the first 50 dwellings have been occupied,
or six months from first residential occupation, as per 4.4 above.
10.2.4
Copies of the annual Travel Plan update report should be issued to both the Local Planning Authority
and Derbyshire County Council upon completion.

Other comments
Consider the provision of personalised travel planning to all new households as part of the Travel
Information Pack.
Consider the establishment of a residents group, at which the Travel Plan is raised as an agenda item
at least twice per year. This group should formally take responsibility for the Travel Plan after the
initial five year monitoring period.
Dependent upon interest and demand, consideration should be given to the establishment of any or
all of the following:




A dedicated Travel Plan group to specifically take responsibility for the plan, its actions and
initiatives.
Bicycle User group (BUG).
Walking group.
Car Share group.
Overall comment
The Travel Plan is a working document, and should not be seen as exhaustive. It will be subject to
change in the light of progression and completion of the development, results of actions
undertaken, and responsive to results of future travel surveys.
