FUNDAMENTALS
Work Environment
Located in Grovedale Geelong.
Working Conditions
This position is 3 days per week, 0.6 FTE, 22.8 hours.
•
Some evening and weekend work may be required.
•
Smoothing / time-in-lieu provisions apply.
•
Employer superannuation contributions of 9.5 percent.
•
Salary packaging applies up to $15,950 as well as up to $7,800 meal benefits.
•
A probationary period of 3 months will apply.
•
The successful candidate will need to have a current Victorian Driver’s Licence and be willing to drive.
•
The successful candidate will need to be willing to undergo a Criminal Records check.
•
The successful candidate will need to have a current Working with Children’s Check and will be
responsible to maintain its validity.

Key Tasks
Attend all relevant care team meetings and
weekly unit / house visits to engage with young
people
Regular attendance at Out of Home Care units / houses for
the purpose of engaging young people in employment
Operate within Whitelion / Open Family
Australia’s code of conduct
To be sensitive to issues of confidentiality, gender, race,
cultural background, disability, age and sexuality
To provide detailed monthly reports to your
direct line manager and quarterly reports as
detailed in the programs service and funding
agreement
Provide program reports as required
To work with 30 young people and provide 7 to
10 employment matches per year for a period
no less than 13 weeks
Effectively support matches between young people and
employers
Identify service gaps; growth opportunities and
program development areas
Participation in the ongoing development of the
Employment Program
Record all program activity on the Whitelion /
Open Family Australia’s data base within 48
hours of an appointment – event with or on
behalf of a young person
To be highly efficient in the use of the Whitelion and Open
Family Australia Database

Key Selection Criteria
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Social Science or related area and/or
demonstrated relevant employment experience.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience working with young people with multiple and complex needs, including those involved in
the Out of Home Care system.

Ability to provide individualised vocational guidance and training to young people as part of their
pathway to employment.

Knowledge or experience of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and
culture.

Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to build rapport and strong relationships with a range of
people, including disengaged young people and personnel working in the Out of Home Care system;
varying levels of business and community organisations.

Ability to develop and co-ordinate training sessions for young people in collaboration with key
stakeholders and corporate partners.

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor
communications to a broad audience.

Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work effectively
autonomously or as a part of the team.
