2016 MCCF General Scholarship Instructions Sheet
Applications and Criteria
1. Go to the Foundation’s homepage, www.madisonccf.org , and click the
“Scholarships” tab at the top of the screen. On the side menu that will be
on the next page, click “MCCF Scholarship Applications”.
2. On the “MCCF Scholarship Applications” page you will see links to all of the
Madison County Community Foundation scholarship application
coversheets. Every scholarship awarded is unique and has its own set of
criteria and requirements. Before you open all 45+ coversheets, review the
“Scholarship Matrix” that is hyperlinked in blue text near the top of the
page. This chart provides an overview of all 45+ scholarships. This chart will
help narrow down the list of scholarships you may be eligible for.
3. Once you have narrowed down your list of potential scholarships, open
each corresponding scholarship coversheet and read through the more
detailed information on the purpose behind the scholarship, eligibility
criteria, and the required documents to complete.
Completing the Application
1. All scholarships require the completion of the “General Scholarship
Application” (with the exception of the Marvel and Pierce Scholarships)
a. The General Application is found at the top of the “MCCF Scholarship
Applications” page.
b. The General Scholarship application must be completed in its
entirety.
c. Students must complete an essay for each scholarship that they are
applying for.
i. If a scholarship has a specific essay prompt, it will be listed on
that scholarship cover sheet.
2. Transcript
a. Your official transcript should only be attached to the ORIGINAL
scholarship application. They should not be included with the copies.
3. Additional Attachments
a. Some scholarships will have various additional attachments such as:
reference letters, community recommendation forms, or athletic
logs. If they are necessary, they are listed on the scholarship cover
letter.
b. These attachments should be included in ALL copies of the
scholarship application.
4. Some scholarships require the completion of the College Cost Estimator.
Scholarships that require its completion have the instructions attached on
page 2 of that specific scholarship cover letter.
a. NOTE: Parents will need to assist their student in the College Cost
Estimator Submission.
b. Parents can use their most recent tax information to complete the
College Cost Estimator.
c. Once the student has completed the College Cost Estimator online, a
report will be sent to the team at National Center for College Costs.
Families will receive a report from NCCC, and will have access to
additional resources from their organization. Students DO NOT need
to attach, print, or do anything else concerning the College Cost
Estimator. MCCF will work with NCCC to get a report of all applicants
once the application deadline has passed.
d. The deadline to have the CCE submitted is March 1st at 5:00pm for
General Scholarship applications.
Submitting the Application
1. Once the student has filled in all of the necessary information on the
General Scholarship application and completed all necessary attachments;
complete scholarship applications should be assembled as follows (from
top to bottom):
a. Original Application
i. Scholarship cover letter (labelled “ORIGINAL”)
ii. General Scholarship Application
iii. Transcript
iv. Additional Attachments
b. 7 COPIES OF THE APPLICATION
i. Scholarship Cover Letter
ii. General Scholarship Application
iii. Additional Attachments
2. The original and 7 copies should then be binder clipped together, or put
into a manila envelope. If a manila envelope is used, please put the
students name and name of the scholarship on the outside of the envelope.
3. Repeat this process for all scholarships that are being applied for.
Deadline and Address
MCCF General Scholarships must be submitted by 5:00pm on Tuesday, March 1st,
2016. Postmarks are not accepted as proof of delivery. Applications can be hand
delivered.
Reminder: For the scholarships that require it, the College Cost Estimator must
also be submitted by no later than 5:00pm on Tuesday, March 1st.
