THE PETER WITT SCHOLARSHIP
In 1960 the Norma Witt Jackson Charitable Foundation established a scholarship fund
known as the Peter Witt Scholarship Fund in honor of the late Peter Witt of Cleveland
who was vitally interested in the welfare, programs, and education of the working person,
in social betterment, and in the political life of the City of Cleveland. Income from the
fund provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving students of
The College of Arts and Sciences whose interests are in social work, city planning or
community involvement. Students who will be juniors or seniors in the next academic
year are eligible and preference will be given to students living in the Cleveland area.
The amount of the scholarship is variable, but depending on need and others factors it
may be for as much as $5,000. Applications will be considered by the Peter Witt
Scholarship Committee, and the awards will be announced at the Honors Assembly at the
end of the semester.
Next year's juniors and seniors interested in applying for the scholarship should submit
the application form and any additional sheets that are required. Two recommendations
are required: one from a faculty member and one from a supervisor who is familiar with
the applicant’s activities within the Cleveland community. The deadline for application is
March 1st and applications should be submitted to:
