Loaning Rules regarding Touch Reading Pen and “Japanese Listening and Reading Collection” Japanese Department, Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages Approved at the Departmental Affairs Council Meeting on February 18, 2011 Revised at the Departmental Affairs Council Meeting on September 5, 2013 Article 1 In order to encourage self-learning in Japanese language, Japanese Department of Wenzao (hereinafter “the Department”) has been equipped with Touch Reading Pens and “Japanese Listening and Reading Collection” (hereinafter “the Equipment”) for students to borrow for use. The Department has herein formulated the “Loaning Rules regarding Touch Reading Pen and “Japanese Listening and Reading Collection” (hereinafter “the Rules”). Article 2 Loaning Subjects: Department faculty and Japanese learning students are entitled to borrow the Equipment for use. The first and second year students of junior college, 4-year college (day division and division of continuing education), and students of double major and minors who are using textbooks of “Minna no Nihongo,” and “Shingaku Nihongo” have the priority to borrow the Touch Reading Pen.” Article 3 Period of Loaning: Each person can borrow the Equipment for one week. If not reserved by someone else, one day extension is allowed, and the Equipment should be returned no later than 5 pm. Article 4 Quantity of loaning: Each person is allowed to borrow one pen or one book only. Article 5 Loaning and Return Procedure: Number one: First, the borrower should access to “Information Service,” to make reservation on the ”Department Resources Borrowing System,” and then present his/her Student ID to the Department Assistant to file an affidavit Number two: Before filing an affidavit, please make sure the equipment is functional. Number three: When loaning and returning the Equipment, the borrower and the Department staff need to check up the condition of the Equipment and its accessories together. If the equipment is out of order, the borrower need to notify the staff, otherwise the Equipment will be considered functional when loaning. Number four: If the borrower is not familiar with the equipment operation instructions, the Department staff can offer guidance. Article 6 Once the reservation is made, the borrower is not allowed to exchange or transfer the Equipment to other person. If the reservation is overdue for 30 minutes and the borrower fails to come to the Department office for borrowing, the reservation will be cancelled. Article 7 When a reservation is made but the applicant fails to come to the office for borrowing, the applicant should cancel the reservation through internet or phone call, otherwise, the Department may suspend the applicant from borrowing this equipment for thirty days. Article 8 When the borrowed Equipment is overdue, overdue payment is NTD.10 per hour. Article 9 During borrowing period, the borrower should use the Equipment properly and assume the responsibility for securing the Equipment. If the Equipment is lost or damaged, the borrower has to pay for its compensation or repair costs. Article 10 Notices Number one: The touch talking pens have been installed textbooks software already; the borrower cannot delete or rewrite the software. The staff will check up the Equipment when returning, and the borrower bears the responsibility for keeping the equipment intact. Number two: If the borrower has been found of violating copyright or any other laws by installing any illegal software, he alone needs to take the full responsibility. Article 11 The Department has the discretion to suspend the use of the Equipment. Article 12 This regulation has been approved at the Departmental Affairs Council Meeting, and likewise with its revision.
