North Star Bible Institute Class: Church History Instructor: Pastor Dan Erickson Course Objectives: 1) Help students become aware of key individuals, events, and ideas in the history of the Christian Church 2) Help students better understand the development and flow of various aspects of church history. 3) Enable students to understand the practical significance and benefit of understanding the history of the Christian church. Class Procedure: 1) Classes will usually follow a lecture-discussion format. Students are expected to participate in class discussion. 2) The textbooks for the course is Christian History Made Easy, Timothy Paul Jones, Rose Publishing, 2008; Church History, Christopher Catherwood, Crossway, 2007. Reading assignments are included in this syllabus (below) 3) Students (taking the class for “credit”) will write a 7-8 page paper analyzing the contributions of a key figure in church history. 4) A final exam will be given during the last class session. The class grade will be based on the exam grade (40%), paper (40%), and class participation (20%).
