Central Gippsland Health Service is the major provider of health, community and residential aged care services in the
Wellington Shire. It serves an immediate population of 42,000, as well as reaching the wider community with acute specialist services through to East Gippsland.
Allied Health Services are housed in the
Community Rehabilitation Centre in Sale, but service delivery occurs in a range of settings, including acute hospital settings, residential aged care, community centre’s and home based. This occurs across the majority of the Wellington Shire, including at Sale, Maffra, Heyfield, Stratford,
Rosedale and Loch Sport.
The Physiotherapy team consists of 7 full time equivalent positions and is supported by Allied Health Assistants and administrative staff. In total the Allied
Health team numbers 30 staff including occupational therapists, dietitians, speech pathologists, social workers, allied health assistants, podiatrist and foot carer's and
Koori liaison.

This position is at operational level reporting to the Chief Physiotherapist.
This position is one of the 7 effective full time Physiotherapist positions and is currently based at the
Community Rehabilitation Centre in Sale. As a more experienced member of the team, this person will work in a highly collaborative manner with the broader allied health service, as well as with all members of the Health and Community services teams plus clients/patients.
The position holder will actively participate in the planning, coordination, evaluation and implementation of a range of clinic interventions that supports reflective, evidence based practice.
The position holder will provide leadership, guidance support and clinical supervision to allocated students. The position holder will supervise and support Grade 1 Physiotherapy staff as well as other appropriate student placements.
Externally, the position holder professionally liaises with a network of healthcare providers and agencies.
The position holder will work collaboratively to provide an effective physiotherapy service at CGHS and contribute to the service as a more experienced practitioner.
This will occur within the principles of care coordination, where patients/clients have access to a highly coordinated health care and community support system.
Manage a clinical caseload which encompasses the acute, community and residential aged care settings.
Balance competing priorities and work demands and identify and respond appropriately to critical and urgent clinical needs.
Participate in care coordination, encompassing remedial, compensatory, educational and preventative strategies.
Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate integrated person-centred care leading to timely and effective client discharge.
Attend and participate in clinical team meetings, case conferences and family meetings.
Develop, conduct and evaluate individual and group assessment and intervention and support clients to develop strategies to overcome or manage their identified issues.
Provide clear and concise documentation related to service delivery – including client/patient notes, and reports.
Engage in the planning and delivery of education programs for patients.
Support the range of student placements – including Allied Health Assistants and Physiotherapy
Undergraduates.
Act as clinical resource and mentor for more junior staff
Participate in and foster an interdisciplinary approach to team work.
Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of strategic relationships with other departments, other professionals and community agencies.
Establish effective consumer feedback mechanisms.
Comply with guidelines and requirements of funding and compensable bodies, including statistical data collection requirements.
Maintain an awareness of budgetary and funding issues with guidance from the Chief
Physiotherapist.
Maintain knowledge of current clinical developments and research findings in order to provide evidence based best practice physiotherapy services.

Support patient, client and community participation in decisions in all aspects of the service
Work within agency policies, procedures and code of conduct
Participate in mandatory education as it relates to your specific roles and responsibilities. This may include: o Fire Safety o Manual Handling / Back Care o Minimal/No Lift (As appropriate) o CPR (As appropriate) o Infection Control – as it relates to the employees designated work role
Business hours Monday to Friday – currently 8.00am to 4.30pm with an accrued day off every four weeks.
Weekend work will be undertaken on a rostered basis, usually for two hours each day as required.

Proven experience working as a Physiotherapist in a health service setting.
