11. Aims of the Programme
The aim of this programme is to enable dentists that have qualified outside the UK to
develop a knowledge of the regulations and recommendations that form the basis of the
delivery of general dental practice within the UK, at a level equivalent to a post dental
foundation UK trained dentist

15. Personal Development Planning
In that this programme is specifically designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of EEA
GDPs it clearly addresses the career development aspect of PDP.
The programme will provide frequent and regular opportunities for the student to reflect on
their acquisition and application of clinical knowledge and skills. Both the clinical cases and
the audit will require reflective analysis the work undertaken.
16. Admissions criteria
Programme Specifications include minimum entry requirements, including academic qualifications,
together with appropriate experience and skills required for entry to study. These criteria may be
expressed as a range rather than a specific grade. Amendments to entry requirements may have been

Students will be informed of their personal minimum entry criteria in their offer letter.
Applicants admitted onto the course will meet the following requirements:







Be employed as a dentist
Be registered with the General Dental Council as a Dental Surgeon.
Be registered with a defence union.
Have indemnity insurance cover at an appropriate level for General Dental Practice
Hold necessary CRB clearance
Hold a current certificate of immunisation against communicable disease (Hepatitis B)
Have sufficient competency in English language (IELTS Level 7 or equivalent)
Competency may be demonstrated by qualification, accreditation of prior learning or
separate University assessment.
All suitable applicants will be interviewed. Interview procedures and decisions regarding
applications will be conducted within the University’s policies on equal opportunities and
admissions.
