My strengths and weaknesses in reading and writing.
After I read your paper, I find out many new things that I have to develop in my reading,
and writing skill in order to become more professional, and efficient in the academic way.
First, let’s talk about my reading skill. Because I have been learning english for a while,
so I think reading is not difficult to me obviously. I can understand the main idea of the text
deeply, and clearly. I usually take a look over the text, then summarize the main idea of each
paragraph. After that, I try to connect all of the ideas, and relationships together. However, my
vocabulary does not seem good enough to be able to read the text faster, for example, I usually
spent times to looking up the words that I haven’t known when I was reading. But, by reading
your tips, I finally realize that I should skip the unknow words, and try to guess what the writer is
saying. From that, I can understand, and read more easier without knowing the meaning of the
words. Moreover, it’s going to help me save plenty of times in reading.
Second, for my writing, it is worse than my reading skill. Even though I always have
many ideas to develop, and put them into my esssays, but I don’t know what should I write, or
where should I start. For instance, it took me plenty of times to decide what I should write about
intelligence when I had to write about it last week; because I didn’t brainstorm the ideas that I
should put into an essay even though I had a lot of ideas about that topic. But, the main point is
that my vocabulary is too weak in order to write a good essay. For this reason, I think I have to
put more time in study vocabulary. Also, I need to improve my grammar as well. Moreover, I
should try to connect my experiences, and thinking to the essays. On the other hand, I also need
to brainstorm, and write a rough draft before I write an esssay; try to focus on the main point,
otherwise I will be digressed.
