INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM
As part of Bath Spa University's commitment to internationalisation and high academic
standards, Bath Spa University introduces its International Scholarship Programme
2013/14.
This application form and guidelines is for the Vice Chancellor’s International
Scholarship and the International Partner Scholarship. There is one application for both
scholarships but you must complete the correct sections. Please note you must have an
offer of admission to a Bath Spa University to apply for these scholarships.
Application deadlines apply: For September entry the deadline is 14th May 17.00 GMT.
For February entry the deadline is 14th November 17.00 GMT.
All other Bath Spa University international scholarships (Pre-sessional Progression
scholarship, Overseas scholarship, Loyalty Progression scholarship and Early Payment
bursaries) are assessed during the application or payment process.
All international scholarships are open only to students paying full international tuition
fees; citizens of the UK and EU are not eligible. The scholarship award is deducted from
the standard tuition fee as a part-fee waiver and award holder will be invoiced for the net
tuition fee due.

Vice Chancellor’s International Postgraduate Scholarships: are available to postgraduate taught
(Masters) applicants and are worth £5000. The Vice Chancellors International
Postgraduate Scholarships are awarded by the decision of the University Committee and are based
on academic merit and a commitment to creativity, culture and enterprise.
Criteria for Vice Chancellors International Postgraduate Scholarship: Applications are welcome from
international students who have achieved high academic results; can demonstrate experience in
university, community and society activities; plus can show future aspirations to become involved in
university life at Bath Spa University.
How applications for Vice Chancellor’s International Postgraduate Scholarships are judged: Vice
Chancellor’s International Postgraduate Scholarship applications are reviewed on submission of the
International Scholarship Application Form and relevant supporting documentation. Particular
attention is taken to the applicant’s statement in Section B. The applications are reviewed in the
month after the deadline by the University Committee.
How to apply for a Vice Chancellor’s International Postgraduate Scholarship:
Applicants must hold an offer of admission for a Bath Spa University postgraduate taught degree
programme that is full-time and taught on-campus, and complete the
International Scholarship Application Form with supporting documentation.
International Partner Scholarships: are available to postgraduate taught (Masters)
applicants who have completed undergraduate or postgraduate education at a Bath Spa
University partner institution and are worth £5000. The International Partner
Scholarships are awarded by the decision of the University Committee and are based on

institution; achieved high academic results; can demonstrate experience in university,
community and society activities; can show future aspirations to become involved in
university life at Bath Spa University; plus show ideas on how Bath Spa University can work
with its partner institutions towards promoting global citizenship.
How applications for International Partner Scholarships are judged: International
Partner Scholarship applications are reviewed on submission of the International
Scholarship Application Form and relevant supporting documentation. Particular attention is
taken to the applicant’s statements in sections B and C. The applications are reviewed in the
month after the deadline by the University Committee.
How to apply for an International Partnership Scholarship: Applicants must hold an offer of
admission for a Bath Spa University postgraduate taught degree programme that is full-time
and taught on-campus, be a graduate of a Bath Spa University partner institution, and
complete the International Scholarship Application Form with supporting documentation.
Advice on how to complete the International Scholarship Application Form:
* Please complete all the details, including your name, contact details, student number
and qualifications. Applications with missing details will be automatically rejected.
* Please attach the relevant supporting documents (e.g. copy of final degree certificate
and a letter of recommendation). Applications without supporting documentation will be
automatically rejected.
* If you are awaiting your final results, you are still able to apply. Please state 'pending
results' in the qualification section. You must submit your results when they are
available.
* Applicants for the Vice Chancellors International Postgraduate Scholarship must
complete the essay question in section B.
To answer this question, you should include details that cover all the criteria: academic
achievement/results; involvement in activities at your previous university, community
work and your contribution to society; charity/volunteer work you've done; information on
your future aspirations and examples on how you will contribute to the social and
economic development of your country. You should also give examples on how you
intend to become involved in university life at Bath Spa University.
* Applicants from partner institutions can apply for both scholarships. However, as per
the terms and conditions, applicants can only be awarded one scholarship.
* Applicants for both the International Partner Scholarships must complete both essay
questions in sections B and C.
To answer the question in section C you should give examples how your partner
institution and Bath Spa University can work together to benefit students and staff at
both institutions, both local communities and host countries.
* Bath Spa University reserves the right to award a scholarship only after careful
consideration of an applicant’s qualifications and verification of authenticity, plus
financial capability. You must be able to prove that you have the financial ability to
support the remaining tuition fees and living costs to be able to accept a scholarship
award.
International Scholarships – Terms and Conditions:
1. Applicants’ fee status must be international. UK and EU students are not eligible to
apply for international scholarships.
2. Applicants must hold an offer of admission, conditional or unconditional, to an
appropriate Bath Spa University programme at the point of application. The programme
must be: A Master’s degree, be at least one year’s duration.
 Full-time on-campus.
 Lead to an award of Bath Spa University.
3. Applications received from those without an offer of admission will be automatically
rejected. Incomplete applications will also be rejected.
4. Scholarship applications must be received by Bath Spa University by the advertised
deadline. No late applications will be accepted.
5. Scholarships are awarded as a part-fee waiver. Award holders must be able to prove
that you have the financial ability to support the remaining tuition fees and living costs to
be able to accept a scholarship award.
6. Award holders must not be in receipt of a scholarship from any other organisation.
7. All scholarships offered are subject to satisfactory academic progress and award
holders will be expected to act as an ambassador for the University.
8. Award holders may hold only one Bath Spa University scholarship.
9. Applicants who successfully receive an early payment bursary are not excluded from
being recipients of a scholarship.
10. Scholarships are awarded by intake date. In the event of an award holder deferring
their entry point, any scholarship awarded cannot be deferred.
11. Scholarship decisions are final. Bath Spa University is unable to provide feedback on
unsuccessful scholarship applications.
