As the Northern Vermont Program Coordinator, Rachel will be supporting all coaches and groups that attend the 5k event at the Champlain Valley Expo. Not Able to Return for the 2015 Spring Session? New Girls on the Run Curriculum! Girls on the Run International unveiled Version 3 of the GOTR curriculum and we are confident that you will love the new format! Each GOTR group will receive one hard copy at the Return Coach Kick Off Meeting along with electronic access through our website. Nancy had the honor of an exclusive peek at the new and long awaited Girls on Track Curriculum. Based on her reaction, I am exploding with anticipation! 2015 5k Events The new, fresh and hip curriculum is currently being piloted around the country with anticipation that the final Southern / Brattleboro product will be ready for release next fall. Saturday, May 16th With that said, we are encouraging all GOT teams to Central / Rutland thinkoutside the box this spring session to alleviate any Saturday, May 30th further curriculum fatigue with their girls. In an effort to Northern / Essex help you with this, Cara has complied a list of Saturday, June 6th supplemental activities that some of our groups have successfully incorporated into their sessions. Most of these examples suggest that 'guest' professionals be invited to expose girls to other types of physical activities such as yoga, Zumba, Tai Chi etc. This list will be made 2015 available at training. Program Start Dates Southern Week of March 1st Central Week of March 15th Northern Week of March 22nd Although it is not standard practice nor encouraged to veer off of the curriculum, it will continue to be allowed with Girls on Track until the new curriculum is released. Online Registration for Girls Online registration for girls and their families was a huge success! The journey through implementation would not have been as smooth or successful if we didn't have your patience, understanding and steadfast support. Thank you, you truly are our SUPERSTARS! Enhancements to Online Registration As successful as online registration was, no implementation is without a few hiccups. The summer was spent identifying areas where improvements and streamlining are necessary. I don't want to give away any surprises but the enhancements may include coaches having the ability to view progress of their groups online registrations....Shhhhh Empowerment, Responsibility, Intentionality, Diversity, Connectedness, Joy, Optimism, Gratitude, Nurturing, Healthy, Open-hearted, Compassion Details surrounding all of these exciting enhancements will be announced in a future newsletter and covered at Return Coach Kick Off meetings. Return Coach Kick Off Meetings Announced Only one member of the Volunteer Coach Team is required to attend the season Kick Off meeting. Please know that all members of the team are welcome and encouraged to join us. Curriculum and registration materials along with pertinent information regarding enhancements to our systems and processes will be discussed. In an effort to further streamline our coach registration process, you will now reserve your seat at the same time you register as a Coach Team member for the upcoming 2015 spring session. We believe that every girl can embrace who she is, can define who she wants to be, can rise to any challenge, can change the world. Can. Coach Team Registration All members of the volunteer coach team regardless of their role within the team, must be registered. When registering you will be asked to state your role within the coach team and update your health information as well as provide health insurance information. Additionally, at the time of registration you will have the option to reserve your seat at a Return Coach Kick Off meeting. There will be 4 options presented when you register: New Coach, Return Coach, Group Volunteer or Junior Coach. Click here for role descriptions. The link to register as a coach for the 2015 season will be 'live' soon, look for an announcement within the next week! Background Checks All members of the volunteer coach team regardless of their role within the team must be registered and have a current background check on file. Background checks are good for 2 years. Many of you that are returning for your third or more season may be due for a new check. It is our responsibility to notify you if further action is required. The expense of the check is absorb by Girls on the Run Vermont and is a requirement of our liability insurance carrier as well as our national organization. What's Next?
