“Rise and Fall” is a separate level of the single-player Crysis 2 game. In this level, Alcatraz seeks to

Description
James “Alcatraz” Rodriquez
Alcatraz is the protagonist of Crysis 2 and the man who
received the Nanosuit 2.0 after Prophet saved his life due
to a Ceph attack. Alcatraz suffered severe injuries when
Prophet saved him and the Nanosuit 2.0 is the one thing
keeping him alive. [1]

Ceph Grunt
Ceph Grunts are basic soldiers. They are slower and less
mobile than the Stalkers but they make up for it with
strong armor and Pinch Rifles. [2]

Ceph Stalker
Ceph stalkers commonly fight alongside the Ceph Grunts.
The Stalker has more agility and greater speeds than
other Ceph and are most dangerous in melee combat. [3]

Atrium
Description
The mall entrance that Alcatraz wakes up consists of rubble and the
unfortunate victims unable to escape before the entrance collapsed. Rubble
and debris liters the floors and the lights are dim with large shadows. Small
drips of water seep through the cracks from the rain trickling outside.
After emerging from the collapsed mall entrance, the mall opens up to the
central atrium. The area is much larger and has several escalators, stairs,
and bridges leading up to the roof. The top of the atrium consists of glass
and some of it is broken, letting rainfall through it to the ground floor. Each
floor of the mall atrium consists of abandoned shops, fallen debris, and
dead bodies.

Level Summary
Campaign
Context
This level is a separate level from the main campaign of Crysis 2. Ceph dropships ambushed Alcatraz and
trapped him under the rubble of a mall. He awakens to the sound of his radio. The army is searching for
him and he has to make his way to higher ground in order to meet the army for pickup.
Backstory
Alcatraz was on his way to take down a spore tower on mission orders from Jacob Hardgreave when a
dropship of Ceph launched a surprise attack and blew up the building Alcatraz dived into for cover. The
building entrance collapsed and Alcatraz loses consciousness.
Aftermath
After the mission, Alcatraz reunited with the army to return to the battle against the Ceph and their
spore towers before they infest the rest of the city.

Level Flow
Flow Summary
1. The player begins at the entrance of the mall. The player moves forward and enters into the first
floor of the mall. Enemies patrol the area and attack the player as soon as they move into the
atrium. The positions of the enemies aim to push the player towards the stairs and the critical
path.
2. After the enemies from the second floor are defeated, and the player proceeds to the third
floor, two waves of enemies appear. Enemies appear from the first floor. The variations of the
enemy spawn depend on which path the player took to get to the next floor. The enemies’
positions continue to push the players towards the stairs to the higher levels.
3. After the player arrives on the third floor, enemies attack the player from the fourth floor. There
are two areas of cooldown fights against melee Ceph. The ceph shoot down from the catwalk.
4. As soon as the player proceeds up to the fourth floor, enemy waves appear from the fifth and
the third floor.
5. After the player defeats the waves of enemies from both above and below, they can resupply on
the fifth floor corner before proceeding up to the sixth floor.
6. As soon as the player is in the middle of the steps to the sixth floor, waves of enemies appear via
drop ship from the skylight windows.
7. The door proceeding to the roof to end the level does not open until all enemies are defeated.
