This is one of those essays where the mark seems
particularly harsh as it has lots of strengths! In this case,
these are that it does have a line of thought and shows
good knowledge & understanding of text & themes.
‘Emotional reactions’ also well-explained.
There is NO analysis of filmic techniques and this in itself is enough for the
essay to fail. Another less serious flaw is the lack of equal attention given to all
aspects of the task (much more on emotional response than there is on
intellectual response). Also not enough said about the consequences of the
character giving into temptation – i.e. her going to prison (only referred to
briefly at very end but should be a fundamental point from outset).
