Research Experience
Undergraduate Researcher, Dr. Lori Eggert Research Lab
University of Missouri
January 2013 – Present

Developed a research project relating gene flow and habitat structure in a terrestrial salamander.

Collected tissue samples from 15 P.shermani at each of 136 sample points in western North Carolina.

Extracted DNA from 2000 terrestrial salamander samples using BioRad Instagene Matrix.

Used PCR amplification and GeneMarker to size 11 microsatellite loci.

Calculated FST values for every pair of sample points to identify the association between slopes and
streams with genetic diversification.
Field Assistant, Dr. Stephanie Schuttler
University of Missouri
June 2013 – July 2013

The objective is to identify any resistant behavior of a raccoon eating in the proximity of a carcass.

Assisted in putting food, a raccoon carcass, and a squirrel carcass in three areas in a nature reserve.

Set up field cameras on nearby trees in a forested area to capture the behavior of approaching animals.
