Vocabulary Presentation Assignment – Grade 7
Each of you will present a Latin or Greek root word to the class. You must choose your
root from the attached list and okay your choice with your teacher prior to your
presentation. Two to four students per week will do presentations. Presentations must be
at least 5 minutes and should take no longer than 10 minutes.
Your presentation should emphasize two or more of Howard Gardner’s eight kinds of
intelligence. You may choose which kinds of intelligence you would like to use for your
presentation. You are encouraged to consult with your teacher about your ideas before
your presentation.
Presentation ideas for specific intelligences
Verbal/Linguistic (word smart): storytelling, speech or monologue, word game
Logical/Mathematical (numbers smart): classification/categorization, web, timeline, problemsolving method, puzzle or game
Kinesthetic (body smart): acting out word meanings, using physical response, body maps
Visual/spatial (picture smart): drawing, painting, picture analogies, graphic symbols or
representations, power point presentation with pictures
Musical (music smart): song, rap, chant, mood representations, musical interpretation
Interpersonal (people smart): leading class discussion or partner chats, simulations, people
sculptures, skits
Intrapersonal (self smart): reflective activities, writing, asking questions to think about
Naturalistic (nature smart): use real objects from nature to demonstrate word meaning, nature
writing or pictures, take class outside
Existential (big picture smart): activities addressing the big idea, meaning of life, and origin of
humanity; philosophical activities; connect activity to the world beyond the classroom
Ideas for presentations using 2 or more intelligences:
Visual/spatial and interpersonal intelligences: artistic rendering that the class is asked to
view and discuss with a partner
Kinesthetic, verbal/linguistic/ intrapersonal: A monologue with movement about the root
word to which the audience is asked to write about
