Synthesis
After events like Bacon's Rebellion,
slaves were much more attractive than
indentured servants to Chesapeake
planters - contextualization.
The adoption of slavery led to a
demographic catastrophe in Africa, its
protection in the Constitution, and
racism as a constant in American
culture - synthesis.
Contextualization is tying it to events in
the period, synthesis is tying it to the
"big picture" or its global impact.
