Oversee and provide on-site leadership and direction to staff and vendors on Flea Market operation days. Assign, direct and oversee Flea Market student staff; train in work procedures, safety and public relations. Work cooperatively with Flea Market Advisory Committee to develop goals, objectives, and procedures relative to the Flea Market. Advises Flea Market Advisory Committee regarding problems and concerns relating to the Flea Market. Oversee and participate in the receipt of fees and other revenues; ensure compliance with College cash handling policies and procedures; verify cash; and maintain financial records. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of revenues and expenses. Interpret and enforce Flea Market rules and regulations; ensure on-site vendor compliance with local and state licensing and permitting requirements. Monitor the Flea Market grounds, sales area, associated parking, storage areas, and restroom facilities on a weekly basis and ensure safety and cleanliness. Initiate repair orders as needed. Coordinate with Campus Police, health department and fire protection agencies to ensure the health and safety of staff, vendors and the public. Ensure emergency response, if needed. Minimum Qualifications Experience: At least one year increasingly responsible experience in flea market or swap meet operations. OR At least two years increasingly responsible experience in event planning. OR Training: Associate’s degree in business administration or related field. Practices associated with the operation of and for-profit business or enterprise activities Principles and practices of flea market and/or swap meet operation. Principles and practices of purchasing. Personnel development and management. Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations. Computer word processing, spreadsheet and financial applications. Standard office practices and procedures. Basic accounting and revenue accounting principles and procedures. Ability to: Effectively oversee and control a large community-sponsored retail Flea Market. Interpret, communicate, and apply laws, codes, policies, regulations and ordinances. Work independently, prioritize work and meet deadlines. Professionally represent Delta College to vendors, contractors, and the public. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Critically think and problem solve. Apply principles and practices of continuous process improvement.
