The comprehensive fringe benefits package

Salary Range:
$3,210 - $3,902/month

A screening committee will review and
evaluate applications to select a limited
number of candidates for interview. Meeting
the minimum qualifications for a position does
not assure the candidate an interview.
A written exam may be given as part of the
screening process.

FLEA MARKET COORDINATOR
RESPONSIBILITIES
D E SCR IPT I O N
8. Provide information, assistance and support for
vendors, contractors and the public including but not
limited to taking reservations, collecting fees and
allocating spaces for vendors. Maintains vendor
relations.
9. Investigate and resolve problems and complaints;
respond to complainants and initiate action plans to
resolve the issue.
10. Inventory Flea Market materials and supplies including
identify needs, place orders and obtain quotes as
needed.
11. Prepare weekly Flea Market report. Ensure accurate
records and files.
12. Markets and promotes the Flea Market; composes and
runs weekly ads; distributes flyers, etc.

Oversee and provide on-site leadership and
direction to staff and vendors on Flea Market
operation days.
Assign, direct and oversee Flea Market
student staff; train in work procedures, safety
and public relations.
Work cooperatively with Flea Market
Advisory Committee to develop goals,
objectives, and procedures relative to the Flea
Market. Advises Flea Market Advisory
Committee regarding problems and concerns
relating to the Flea Market.
Oversee and participate in the receipt of fees
and other revenues; ensure compliance with
College cash handling policies and
procedures; verify cash; and maintain
financial records. Ensure accurate and timely
reporting of revenues and expenses.
Interpret and enforce Flea Market rules and
regulations; ensure on-site vendor compliance
with local and state licensing and permitting
requirements.
Monitor the Flea Market grounds, sales area,
associated parking, storage areas, and
restroom facilities on a weekly basis and
ensure safety and cleanliness. Initiate repair
orders as needed.
Coordinate with Campus Police, health
department and fire protection agencies to
ensure the health and safety of staff, vendors
and the public. Ensure emergency response,
if needed.


Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
At least one year increasingly responsible experience in
flea market or swap meet operations.
OR
At least two years increasingly responsible experience in
event planning.
OR
Training:
Associate’s degree in business administration or related
field.






















Practices associated with the operation of and
for-profit business or enterprise activities
Principles and practices of flea market and/or
swap meet operation.
Principles and practices of purchasing.
Personnel development and management.
Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes
and regulations.
Computer word processing, spreadsheet and
financial applications.
Standard office practices and procedures.
Basic accounting and revenue accounting
principles and procedures.
Ability to:
 Effectively oversee and control a large
community-sponsored retail Flea Market.
 Interpret, communicate, and apply laws,
codes, policies, regulations and ordinances.
 Work independently, prioritize work and
meet deadlines.
Professionally represent Delta College to
vendors, contractors, and the public.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both
orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working
relationships with those contacted in the
course of work.
Critically think and problem solve.
 Apply principles and practices of
continuous process improvement.
 Sensitivity to and understanding of, the
diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural,
linguistic, ethnic backgrounds and disabilities
of community college students, staff and the
community.
License or Certificate:
Valid Class C Driver’s license and have a
satisfactory driving record.
Valid CPR/First Aid certification, preferred.
Ability to be bonded.
Working Conditions
Knowledge of:

Basic marketing and promotion principles and
procedures.






Environmental Conditions:
On-site supervision includes working
outdoors in extreme temperatures. Exposure
to heat, cold and noise.
Standard office
setting, using standard office equipment.
Some travel may be required.
Physical Conditions:
Essential functions may require maintaining
physical condition necessary for walking,
standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
Heavy, moderate or light lifting and carrying,
bending, stooping, and kneeling for short
periods.
