The selection of the 4-H King & Queen will be made by a special committee chosen
each year. The committee will consist of one Extension Staff member and at least two
individuals not related to any of the applicants. Primary consideration for determining
the recipients will be their 4-H participation, display of good character, community
involvement, leadership development, the impact, and influence of the 4-H Program on
the applicant. Each applicant will also be required to participate in an interview with the
selection committee. Please complete the following information as it relates to your 4-H

4-H King & Queen Information
Practice for coronation will be held on Saturday, July 11th at approximately 3 p.m.
Please meet Jeryl Kettelson at the Grandstand on the Boone County Fairgrounds at this
time. If you are unable to attend this practice for any reason, please let the Extension
Office or Jeryl know as soon as possible.
Dress for girls will be a nice dress or prom-type gown. Dress for boys will be
dress slacks, nice shirt (tie optional), and dress shoes, boots or ropers. Please, No
t-shirts, sneakers, casual sandals, caps or hats!
Coronation will take place on Sunday, July 12, following Church services, at
approximately 11:00 a.m. in the grandstand. All candidates are requested to complete
the narration form that is included with this application and return both to the Boone
County Extension Office.
All king and queen candidates will be in the parade on Sunday afternoon.
Interviews of the candidates will be scheduled for Monday, June 15th. More
details will be sent to you later.
4-H King & Queen Duties
Please plan to attend as many of the following activities as possible, keeping in
mind that your duties to 4-H come FIRST. We are planning on your presence at the
livestock shows to help award ribbons and trophies to exhibitors.
