 Molecular biology and genetic engineering: DNA and RNA purification, PCR, RTPCR, DNA cloning, DNA transformation to bacteria, dsRNA preparation, real-time PCR,
northern blot.
 Histology and immunology: Tissue fixation, parafin embedding and cutting,
Hematoxylin and Eosin staining, in situ hybridization (RNA probes), cell and tissue
immunostaining techniques, including immuno-fluorescence staining and immuno-gold
staining for EM.
 Proteomics and biochemistry: Protein expression in bacteria, column separation, gel
electrophoresis, western blot, peptide mass spectrometry.
 In-vivo: Crustacean aquaculture experimentation, dsRNA silencing by injections.
 Very good computer skills: Comprehensive knowledge of all office programs and
bioinformatic software tools (protein 3D modelling, nucleotide and amino acid sequence
analysis, MSA).
 General: Sex differentiation, molt and growth in decapod crustaceans, SEM operation
and sample preparation.
