VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, HANOI CENTER FOR NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES PEER PROJECT ------------DETAIL SCHEDULE OF THE TRAINING COURSE SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SAFEGUARDS: DEVELOPING TOOLS FOR MONITORING PES/REDD PROJECTS FOR SUCCESS Objectives of the course: 1. Introduction to PES and REDD: what they are, what their impacts have been in Vietnam and elsewhere so far. 2. Focus on social and environmental safeguards and needs for data to monitor PES/REDD projects for success. 3. With the combination of in-class-room lectures and fieldwork, upon their return, the participants who are cadres from Provincial Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development and Natural Resources and Environment will have the skills to be proactive in mornitoring as well as attracting REDD/PES projects in their respective areas in the future.
