THE DOWLING CLUB BAD House, 4 Fitzroy Square, London W1T 6EH admin@bad.org.uk President Elect Dr Richard Goodwin Richard.goodwin@wales.nhs.uk Secretary Elect Dr Jemma Collins jemmatuesday@googelemail.com Scottish Charity Number: SC007011 Dowling Club Weekend “Tropical Dermatology” 6-7th November 2015. Aloft Hotel Central Liverpool Dr Steve Jones and colleagues on the Wirral would like to welcome you to vibrant Liverpool for a tropical ‘Winter Weekend’. The Dowling Club overseas trip next year is to Africa, including a visit to the Dermatology training centre in Moshi. As an aperitif for this, the educational symposium will focus on tropical dermatology with contributions from colleagues well known to Dowling Club members as well as input from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. The venue for the weekend is the Aloft Hotel in Central Liverpool (www.aloftliverpool.com). The is a new hotel which has opened in the last year as a result of the refurbishment of the old Sun Alliance building which became vacant when they merged with Royal Assurance. Not only is this, therefore, a modern hotel but also one situated right in the heart of the city - the famous Matthew Street and the Cavern are all of 100 yards away! The academic meeting is scheduled for the Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, leaving Saturday afternoon (and for the younger members late Friday night) to enjoy the city with all its attractions – a myriad of museums (Maritime, Liverpool Life etc), Galleries galore, the Beatles Experience, the ‘Other Place’ (Gormley’s statues in the sea at Crosby) and of course retail therapy. The dinner on the Friday night will be held at the Liverpool Medical Institute and will be proceeded by a talk from someone who has spent the last year at the front line of the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone. The organisers hope that they will be in receipt of sponsorship from a number of pharmaceutical companies and that, therefore, the meeting will represent excellent value! Booking will be taken on a ‘first come first served’ basis on receipt of the application form and the appropriate payment.
