Cat Adoption Agreement
This agreement, dated ____________ day of ________________,
200__ by and between
______________________________________________________(hereinaft
er, the “Adopter(s)” and Animal Care Sanctuary(hereinafter,
“ACS”), a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
In consideration for the placement by ACS of a male/female cat,
approximately ____ months/years of age, presently called by the
name_________________(hereinafter “the cat”) in the custody of
the Adopter(s), the Adopter(s) hereby agree to be bound by the
terms of this Agreement and specifically warrants and represents
the following:
1. To pay a non-refundable adoption fee in the amount of
$_______ to ACS to aid ACS in continuing efforts to find
homes for unwanted animals. Should Adopter(s) return the
cat within fourteen days, the adoption fee may be returned
at ACS’s discretion.
2. To provide an indoor home for the cat and to supply proper
and adequate food and water to meet the cat’s needs.
3. To ensure that the cat is, at the Adopter(s)’ expense,
spayed or neutered by a fully licensed/qualified
veterinarian and that the cat is NEVER bred. Adopter agrees
to spay/neuter the cat within 60 days of the date of this
agreement. A spay/neuter deposit of $__________ will be
required at time of adoption but will be refunded upon
proof of the spay/neuter.
4. To provide full and complete veterinary care for the cat
including annual vaccinations, including but not limited to
vaccinations against rabies in compliance w with the laws
of the Commonwealth/State of ________________.
5. To guarantee that the cat is never used for or subjected to
inhumane or cruel treatment, including but not limited to:
A. Never given up for use as food for other animals.
B. Never given up for any sort of experimentation,
scientific, or otherwise.
C. Never declawed by any means or otherwise physically
altered for convenience or aesthetic purposes.
D. To contact ACS immediately in the event the adoption is
not successful for ANY reason and to return the cat to
ACS at Adopter(s) expense so that efforts can be made by
ACS to find another home for the cat.
E. To return the cat to ACS immediately if Adopter(s) finds
that a female cat is pregnant. In this event, the cat and
any kittens born shall be the property of ACS and
Adopter(s) adoption fee of $______________ shall be
returned in full, as well as the spay/neuter deposit of
$_________. Once the kittens have been weaned, Adopter(s)
shall have the option, at ACS’s sole discretion, to readopt the cat and repay the $_______ and spay neuter/fee
deposit of $_______________. All kittens shall remain the
sole property of ACS.
F. To notify ACS of any substantial changes in
circumstances, including, but not limited to:
A. Adopter(s) change of address and/or telephone number;
B. Changes in the cat’s living environment and
accommodations;
C. Loss, theft, serious illness, injury and/or death of
the cat;
D. Substantial or sudden change in the cat’s personality.
Adopter agrees that all of the information provided by the
Adopter(s) prior to and during this adoption process, including
all information supplied on ACS’s adoption application (a
completed copy of which is attached hereto and made a part
hereof), is true and correct to the best of the Adopter’s
Knowledge, information and belief.
Adopter(s) understand ACS’s goal to find loving, humane, and
safe homes for animals and hereby promises to contact ACS
immediately, if, for ANY reason, the adoption of the dog by
Adopter(s) does not work out as anticipated. Adopter agrees to
surrender the dog for free and agrees NOT to sell or give away
the cat to any other person or organization. The Adopter(s)
agree to transport the cat to ACS at any location designated by
ACS.
Adopter(s) acknowledge that ACS can make NO guarantees and/or
promises regarding the dog’s disposition, temperament, and/or
future health and personality. Adopter(s) agree that he/she/they
shall be responsible for any and all veterinary and other costs
related to the cat while the cat is in the custody and/or
control of Adopter(s) and/or workmen of Adopter(s).
Adopter(s) hereby agrees to release ACS and hold ACS harmless
from any and all liability for damage and/or injury which may be
caused to Adopter(s), his or her family, friends, neighbors,
visitors, agents, servants, employees, and/or workmen, directly
or indirectly by the cat. Furthermore, Adopter(s) agrees to
indemnify ACS against any and all claims by third parties
arising out of the cat’s behavior and/or activities while the
cat is in the possession, custody, and/or control of Adopter(s)
and/or family member, friend, neighbor, agent, servant, employee
and/or workmen of Adopter(s).
Violation of any one term of this contract by Adopter(s) shall
result in the imposition of Liquidated Damages in the amount of
One Thousand Dollars ($1000.00), plus attorney’s fees and costs
payable to ACS, to cover the expenses of adoption, investigation
of breach of this contract, recovery of the cat and/or readoption and other related costs. Violation of this agreement
will require the IMMEDIATE return of the cat to ACS at
Adopter(s) individual cost and expense.
The invalidity, unenforceability, or failure by a party hereto
to enforce a clause or portion of this Agreement will not affect
the validity or enforceability of any other provisions herein.
The terms of this contract shall be governed by and construed in
accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
This Agreement, along with the Adoption Application completed by
Adopter(s)and any attachments hereto, contains the entire
understanding and agreement between/among the parties and
supersedes any prior understanding and/or agreements
between/among them

I/We hereby certify that I/We have read all of the terms of this
four page Agreement. I/We understand my/our obligations and
representations arising hereunder, that I/We have been afforded
ample opportunity to review the terms of this Agreement and to
seek review and advice from an attorney or outside party and
that I/We agree to be bound by each and every term of this
Agreement. I/We also understand that the adoption fee we are
paying for the cat is non-refundable, even if I/We return the
cat to ACS or ACS reclaims the cat under the terms of this
Agreement, except as otherwise set for herein at Paragraph # 1
and 5D. I/we further acknowledge that I/We understand that all
future veterinary care for the cat is our responsibility and
that ACS cannot and does not make any warranty or guarantee
regarding the health of this cat.
