Dear Heart Recipients: Great news! We definitely will set a new record Monday for the most heart recipients ever assembled in one place on the West Coast. But we’ll miss breaking the Guinness World Record if more heart transplant recipients don’t come to Petco Park Monday night (July 20th) for Donate Life Day at the Padres. We need 190 heart recipients to attend to break Duke’s record! Are you on the list below? Should you be? Can you be? Today will you invite other heart recipients to attend? If your time is limited, you only need to join us pre-game for one hour Monday night. Tickets for heart recipients are FREE for the challenge from 6 to 7 in the Park at the Park … or free for heart recipients to stay for the game. And they’ll receive a FREE Padres shirt, special Donate Life hat just for heart recipients, Guinness Record Attempt medal, a national donor pin (a heart, of course), a Padres-Donate Life stress ball, and you’ll get an amazing heart balloon made for you by one of our DMV managers. Candidly, you will be inspired and be inspiring! That will help us save more lives here. The weather forecast is good for Monday night. By attending, you’ll also: Be part of something historic. Meet Jon Marsh. He had only hours to live when his UCSD heart transplant in February set an amazing UNOS record. Monday afternoon he and his family will meet both of his new heart’s donor families. (Come to the game and we’ll tell you how and why his heart has beaten in three people.) Congratulate Sharp heart Karen Zajak who will meet her donor’s family Monday morning. Thank you for helping us save lives in so many ways … Monday night and always! Sharon Ross PS Hearts, I’m taking a lot of heat from the other organ groups on why I picked hearts to be recognized first. It’s because nearly 600 hearts have been transplanted in San Diego since 1988 according to UNOs. The public also loves hearts, Rady’s just started it’s new heart transplant program, the cute 11-year-old Montano twin heart recipients said yes to throwing out the first pitch, and there is an existing Guinness Record for hearts. Help me hearts, please!
