FMS Scholarship Procedure Scholarship Amount FMS will award up to three scholarships at a minimum of $1,500 (but not to exceed $5,000 in the aggregate) on an annual basis. The scholarship is non-renewable. Eligibility 1. The applicant must be a high school senior attending a two-year or four-year undergraduate degree at an accredited institution. 2. The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent. 3. The applicant must have a minimum SAT score of 1400. 4. The applicant must be sponsored by an active FMS member. Active FMS member is defined as being current on their membership dues at the end of the calendar year. A sponsor can only sponsor one scholarship applicant per year. Applicant Requirements 1. Applications must be complete and accompanied by a copy of their official transcript which includes the most recent semester completed. In addition, the applicant must complete the essay and questionnaire components of the application. Only applications which have been fully completed will be processed. 2. Applications must be submitted to a member of the FMS Board Scholarship Committee by the February 1st deadline. Scholarship Selection Committee The FMS Board Scholarship Committee will be composed of the FMS Board, excluding any individuals that have sponsored a scholarship applicant. The FMS Board Scholarship Committee will annually appoint the Selection Committee. The FMS Board Scholarship Committee will provide the Selection Committee with the numbered applications and will redact the applicant’s name. All applications will be anonymously scored. Each Selection Committee member will assign each finalist a number of points not to exceed 10. All committee members’ scores will be averaged to calculate the final score per applicant. 1. The applicant can receive up to 3 points on their essay (question 1). a. 1- average b. 2- exceeds expectations c. 3- distinguished 2. The applicant can receive up to 3 points on questions 2 through 6. a. 1- average b. 2- exceeds expectations c. 3- distinguished 3. The applicant can receive up to 3 points for GPA and SAT Score. a. 1- GPA of 3.0 and SAT score 1400-1499 b. 2- GPA of 3.1-3.4 or SAT score of 1500-1699 c. 3- GPA of 3.4 or higher or SAT score of 1700+ 4. The applicant will receive 1 point if they are related to their FMS Sponsor and 0 points if they are not related. FMS Board Scholarship Committee A list of the scholarship winners, along with their applications, will be forwarded to the FMS Board Scholarship Committee by April 1st. The scholarship winners will be notified by April 15th. The scholarships will be awarded at the FMS Installation of Officers Dinner in May.
