EMU Women’s Commission Scholarship Application
This scholarship is open to both admitted undergraduate and graduate students who
plan to be or are enrolled at least half-time. This is a one-time scholarship for the
academic year (the award will be split evenly between fall 2013 and winter 2014
semesters).
To be eligible for a Women’s Commission Scholarship you must meet the follow criteria:
1. Have had an interruption in your education of at least five (5) cumulative years or
you must be planning a career that is generally non-traditional for your gender.
2. Have a minimum EMU or transfer cumulative grade point average of 2.50 for
undergraduate students (3.00 for graduate students).
3. Have financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
4. Be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate students and
4 credit hours for graduate students).
5. Have a Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) processed by the
federal processor by April 30, 2013. Please note that processing time for the
FAFSA is approximately two (2) weeks. Please complete the financial aid
application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
The application and supporting documentation must be submitted to the Office of
Financial Aid, 403 Pierce Hall, by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. It must
include:

The completed application
Personal statement
Two (2) letters of recommendation (forms provided), preferably from a current
or former teacher and/or work supervisor (not relatives).
The application and supporting documentation must be submitted to the Office of
Financial Aid, 403 Pierce Hall, by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 30, 2013.
