The Associate Member Application must be submitted to the National Sorority to receive
approval of the initiation of an Associate Member into Sigma Alpha Sorority.
Laws of Sigma Alpha Pertaining to Associate Members
Article XIII, Section 8. Associate Members shall be those individuals who have been duly
elected by a chapter and have been approved by the Executive Committee, but who, at the
time of initiation, are not undergraduate students at the university where the chapter is
situated. Only those individuals who, in the opinion of the chapter and the Executive
Committee, adhere to the ideals of Sigma Alpha, who have made a significant
contribution to the chapter and agriculture, and whose professional achievements
warrant the bestowing upon them of associate membership in Sigma Alpha may be
initiated as Associate Members. Associate membership may be conferred upon two (2)
individuals per chapter per year. These individuals may also be nominated for honorary
membership.

selecting and initiating associate members and by secret ballot of the chapter, was

5. Applications are to be submitted to the National President by no later than six
weeks prior to the proposed date of initiation to allow adequate time for approval
of National Board and other processing.
6. All parts of this application are to be completed by the Chapter Secretary.
Candidates should not complete this form. Answer all parts; incomplete
applications will be returned without approval.
7. Do not initiate your candidate without written approval of the National Board
conveyed to your Chapter Secretary by the National President. Initiation of a
candidate without approval will be considered null and void.
8. A fifteen ($15) dollar initiation fee is due to the National Sorority prior to
initiation.
