THE CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title Media and Community Fundraising Coordinator Department Fundraising Reports to Fundraising Manager and Chief Executive Hours 24 hours per week Overall Job Purpose To create opportunity and coordinate all communication and PR opportunities across the North East. To create opportunity and coordinate fundraising in the community to set targets Salary 16,000 – 18,000 pro rata Purpose: To develop and implement a proactive strategy for raising funds from the community through events, collections and local activities. To coordinate all communications and generate PR opportunities in local media. Principal Relationships Internal CEO/Directors All staff Trustees External Consultants Volunteers Child Health personnel Trust personnel External Local fundraisers Groups & Associations Schools Clubs Donors Projects supported Members of the public Focus – North East of England – Corporate and Community The responsibility of the Media and Community Fundraising Coordinator (MCF) is to take responsibility for attracting, developing and completion of events, donations and activities in the community. The focus for fundraising is the North East of England. PR and Marketing 1. To manage the marketing and PR activities of the organisation, providing support to the Fundraising Manager, Project Director and Chief Executive. 2. Manage the distribution of press releases, maintaining an extensive press contact database, and monitoring & evaluating press coverage and comparing against set targets 3. Assist with the production and implementation of Communication and PR plan, processes and procedures. 4. With the rest of the team, update our website and other social media platforms when and where required. 5. Assist with the maintenance and management of marketing and fundraising databases. 6. Scheduling and co-ordinating mailings including: Annual Review Newsletters Other events when appropriate 8. Assist with the development and implementation of the charity’s corporate image and branding standard to ensure consistency of style and message across all marketing material. 9. Assist with the management of fundraising and other events, especially the promotion and marketing of events to ensure participant and fundraising targets are met. 10. To ensure that marketing activities adhere to current legislation including data protection and charity law. Community Fundraising Coordinator 1. Harnessing support from community organisations for fundraising or event opportunities. 2. Play an active role in identifying new opportunities for fundraising at a local level and follow these up with individuals and local groups to achieve new income streams 3. Ensure delivery of departmental targets by assisting with the development and implementation of the fundraising business plan 4. Develop and maintain contacts with locally managed companies to secure adoption, sponsorship and staff involvement. 5. Identify, research, target, develop and maintain links with schools, groups, clubs and associations across the North East 6. Develop, co-ordinate and organise collections from supermarkets, special events, raffles and charity boxes, ensuring best practice with all cheque and cash receipts for your geographical remit area and that they are promptly recorded and handed to the Finance Manager 7. Monthly reporting for specific aspects of fundraising activity in your geographical remit area 8. Ensure appropriate levels of feedback and recognition to supporting partners 9. Provide follow up on all local fundraising activities including sending thank you letters 48 hours after receipt of donations, maintaining accurate records on the database and chasing outstanding income Other 1. To attend and participate in Team meetings in order to help The Children’s Foundation meet its aims and objectives. 2. To take responsibility for own training and development needs 3. To attend other promotional events for The Children’s Foundation as and when required. 4. To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post at all times in compliance with all of the Foundation’s policies and in particular, Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety. Due to the nature of the project and events calendar there will be some weekend and unsociable hours required to help the team cover these events.
