INTRODUCTIONS AND GUESTS
Brad Mazdra, Crystal Lay, Kristi Mason, Letty Gallegos, Terry Cook, Marissa Macias,

New officer nominations - passed unanimously
i. Vice Chair – Letty Gallegos
ii. Secretary – Margo Trevino

Process for inclusion in routing system – Letty Gallegos

Letty proposes that we get added or create a proposal to be included in future
changes. Terry agrees with a possible proposal. Terry will hold draft proposal.

Possibly a seat on ADAC, route information both ways

Possibly timely minutes from ADAC

Still waiting on details of proposal for new add deadline

Still have rolling admissions which will also have an impact for new students

The feeling was that advisors are going to be the ones dealing with the fallout

Next ADAC meeting have 2-3 advisors to attend meeting (June 9, 1:00 p.m. Milton
Hall)

There were more questions about how each college was going to implement.
Especially courses outside of a student’s college

Crystal added that there will hopefully be long term benefit, but the fall will still be
messy.

Marissa added that there are still a lot of exceptions to admission and programs



There were more faculty than staff nominations this time around
New Business

Brad and a couple of DACC Advisors attended the Early Arrowhead graduation. The
president and governor were there. Brad sends his thanks to all the advisors who
helped with these students.

There is going to be a new position created to help with the new EC II coming in.

Terry said that Mariana will be taking over some of Marissa’s responsibilities with
NSR. She will be meeting with everyone and will be taking over after the June NSR.

Marissa has made some small changes to the agenda and some of the support
services. The contact list will now include 2 more phone numbers to Admissions. Still
call her with internal issues and if there are any students transferring colleges.

The removal of holds worked well. Admissions are contacting students for the May
NSRs. There is no wait list option this year, but they are working on it for next year.

Terry: Learning specialist – hired to provide reading and writing assistance to
students. linm@nmsu.edu; Tue/Thurs. until 7

An email went out to all students who have not registered and are capturing the
reasons why students have not registered.

The NMSU Academic Advising Council mission is to support the advising process by setting
guidelines and developing recommendations on advising policies across the university system.
