play portion was fun. Things got hectic in the competition part of

B. Club Activation/Deactivation

X. New Business
A. AGS Donation Request
 The VP of AGS in public forum said the money would go toward an
AGS conference where they would participate in selecting a statewide
community service project. It will allow members to grow and make
connections with other across the state. They are requesting $3000.
 MSA said confusion with AGS receiving this donation in the past has
caused difficulty for AGS.
 Mr. Pineda clarified that these are all of donations that were submitted
to him by last Thursday and ASLPC reviewed them and decided on a
certain amount to transfer from the ASLPC account to the ICC account.
Now ICC Reps are deciding whether there each club should receive
donations.
 Bio asked if there is a competition portion to the conference or if will
bring prestige to the college.
B. AWS Donation Request
 The AWS President from public forum said that they are asking for
$2000 to go to a welding conference in Chicago in Nov. It will be used
APPROVED
to get students there and pay for a hotel for four days. Technology in
welding advances so it is always good to learn more.
C. Business Club Donation Request
 Business said they are going to a business conference next week. It has
already been paid for yet they would like to be reimbursed for it. Most
of the trip has been paid for but they are requesting $1000 for addition
help for items such as food. Last year they came back with many
medals.
D. Gamer’s Lounge Donation Request
 Gamer’s said that they are requesting $400 to attend FanimeCon. A
majority of the trip is being paid for through club funds and
individuals’ own money but this donation will help with the hotel cost.
 Math asked what prestige it would bring to the school.
 Gamer’s said the club has been looking forward to it.
 IBA said the event in San Jose and asked why a hotel room would be
necessary.
 Gamer’s did not know why a hotel room was necessary since he
personally wasn’t going on the trip.
 MSA said that even if the event wouldn’t bring the school prestige, the
trip is related to a lot of the majors of those in Gamer’s Lounge just as
trips for other clubs benefit people through letting them learn about
major related topics.
 Math asked if this would pay for travel or tickets. Ticket prices change
over time and all hotels nearby the event would probably already be
reserved.
 Gamer’s said that the tickets and hotel have already been paid for and
they just want to be reimbursed for some of it.
 Bio asked if clubs will have ability to bring back a budget and more
planning before donations are voted on next meeting.
 Mr. Pineda said yes.
 Gamer’s said they will bring a budget next time.
 Spiritual asked if some of the trip would be paid for members.
 Gamer’s said yes.
 Math said sometimes you can volunteer for events like this to get a
discount on ticket so they should look into this.
 Gamer’s said they would look into this and bring it back for discussion
next time.
 IBA said if they had looked into cheaper price options they might be
more willing to vote for them to get a donation.
 Bio asked if this is the same money that they requested for an event last
semester
 Gamer’s said there had been some confusion with donation forms.
 Bio asked if they were asking for the same money again.
 Math said it was for a different event that they has asked for. The one in
the past was for a League of Legends competition.
 Gamer’s said the two events are separate.
 Math asked if they received the $350 they had asked for the other event
and if they used it.
APPROVED



Gamer’s said they didn’t qualify for that competition.
Math asked if that money could instead be used for this event.
Gamer’s said they would come back next week with more information.
E. Journalism Club Donation Request
 Journalism said they are asking for a donation to attend a journalism
conference. Most will be paid for by with grants and other donations but
some money is needed from ICC. They attend this convention every year.
Last year their website was 3rd best in the nation for their campus size.
Going to the conference brings prestige to the campus and helps those
involved with The Express, The LPC Anthology, and Naked Magazine.
 Math asked if they had been done fundraising.
 Journalism said yes and the hotel and tickets had already been paid for.
F. ASLPC Elections
 Mr. Ansari said elections are the last week of April. The position available
are: President, VP, Director of Communication, Director of Events,
Director of Legislation, and ICC Chair. ASLPC is not a club but an
organization that represents the students and acts on issues related to the
students. Clubs have more specific interests. ICC is funded by ASLPC.
ASLPC has students got to campus committees. The ICC Chair is
responsible for chairing ICC meetings, connects ASLPC and ICC,
coordinates ICC events, and updates the ICC Constitution and Bylaws.
Director of Events plans events like Club Day, watches over an events
subcommittee, and communicates with PR about getting the word out about
events to students. Director of Communications keeps records and writes
minutes of the meetings. Director of Legislation plants legislative and offcampus events and is the student rep at legislative events. They update
students on legislation relevant to them and write resolutions.
 Mr. Ansari moved to extend time by 5 minutes.
 Bio seconded.
 Motion passed unanimously.
 Mr. Ansari said that the VP makes the ASLPC agendas, supervises
senators, and updates the ASLPC Constitution and Bylaws. The president
makes sure all of the officers are doing their jobs, can veto votes, chairs the
ASLPC meetings, and acts on issues related to students. This job is the
most time consuming. The Student Trustee is not in senate but attends
district meetings and events and gives a voice to the students. Some
benefits of being in ASLPC is that it looks good when wanting to transfer,
to put on transfer, and when applying for scholarships. ASLPC is made up
of many diverse individuals. There will also be online voting during the
week of elections. People need to announce their candidacy by April 13th.
 Bio asked if people who have jobs have time to be in ASLPC.
 Peace & Social Justice said that there are many busy motivated people in
ASLPC and it is possible to balance all responsibilities if one is motivated.
XI. Announcements
 Bio said the Alumni Panel is actually in room 801 this Wednesday from 3:30-4:30
pm.
