 SUPER FAFSA Month will be in February!!! On February 3rd, 10th, & 17th
financial aid representatives from Hampden-Sydney and Longwood University will
be in the library from 4-7pm to assist students and parents with the completion of the
FAFSA.
 The 2016 Dixie Youth Baseball and Softball Scholarship Applications are now
available in the school counseling office. The applications are for any seniors in high
school that has participated in a Dixie Youth Baseball or Softball program. The
deadline is February 1, 2016.
 Lee-Jackson Educational Foundation Scholarship Program is seeking applicants
for the 2015-2016 Lee-Jackson Educational Foundation Scholarship Program. The
objective of the program is to acquaint young people with the historical legacy of two
of Virginia’s most outstanding military figures, General Robert E. Lee and General
Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson. Eighteen scholarships will be awarded to Virginia
high school juniors and seniors submitting outstanding original, analytical essays on
any aspect positive or negative on the career, character, or legacy of General Robert
E. Lee and/or General “Stonewall” Jackson. The application and reporting forms are
located on the Lee-Jackson Educational Foundation website at http://www.leejackson.org. The deadline for students to submit applications and essays to their
high school principals is February 5, 2016. Winners will be announced May 16,
2016.
 Attention Female Seniors!! Governor McAuliffe and Virginia Council on
Women Announce the 5th Annual STEM Essay Contest!! The Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Math essay contest is open for junior and senior high
school students who will be pursuing a STEM career at an institution of higher
education. One scholarship will be awarded in each of the five geographic regions
across the state. Applications and guidelines are available online at:

February 8, 2016.
 VMDAEC 2016 Educational Scholarships are now available!!! If your parents are
members of Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) and have a primary residence
that’s served by the cooperative, then you’re eligible to apply for a $1,000
scholarship. Please visit http://www.vmdaec.com/content/education-scholarshipapplication to apply. The deadline is February 10, 2016.
 Southside Electric Cooperative will offer awards of $1,000 each from its
Educational Scholarship Fund to students in the service area. This is a new
opportunity for the Cooperative to support the area’s high-achieving students as they
continue their educations. Information about applying will be available in the next
few weeks at www.sec.coop/scholarships. The deadline is April 1, 2016.
 Virginia Association of Federal Education Program Administrators announces
the opportunity for a national scholarship for Virginia students. The (NAFEPA)
National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators will be selecting
three (3) $2,500.00 scholarships recipients in March 2016. The NAFEPA offers three
different scholarships: Applicant is pursuing a degree in Education, applicant is
pursuing a degree other than education, and applicant is pursuing any degree. Please
see your school counselor for more information and an application. The deadline is
February 19, 2016.
 The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is rewarding achievers inside and
outside of the classroom. The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program recognizes and
supports their journey. Students who plan to major in a specified course of study
focused on engineering, technology or design, with an interest in the automotive

 Attention Seniors!! If you are interested in apprenticeships in the Heating, Air
Conditioning, Refrigeration, Process Piping and Environmental Systems Trades
please see your school counselor for dates and times that will be sponsored by the
Washington, D.C. Joint Steamfitting Apprenticeship Committee.
 Attention Seniors!! The National Co-op Scholarship Program, will award 175
merit scholarships, totaling $4.5 million this year. Please visit www.waceinc.org
for more information. The ten partner institutions with the WACE cooperation
include, Clarkson University, Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University,
Merrimack College, Rochester Institute of Technology, State University of New York
Oswego, The University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati, University of
Massachusetts Lowell, and Wentworth Institute of Technology. The deadline is
February 15, 2016.
 The 2016 VSGA-VIP Scholarship Foundation was founded to help young Virginia
high school students with an interest in golf continue their academic pursuits. The
scholarship is open to any Virginia high school senior in good standing, and who has
been in Virginia since September 1, 2014. Applicants must have an interest in golf,

 The George E. Allen Academic Scholarship Program is now seeking applicants!!
The George E. Allen Academic Scholarship Program celebrates the life of the firm’s
founder, George E. Allen, Sr. The law firm of Allen & Allen will award fifteen
$1,500 scholarships to high school seniors to assist them in furthering their education.
The applicant must be a senior in high school, whose plans include advanced
education through college, nursing, business, trade, technical training or other similar

 The Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District will award three scholarships
of $1,000 to a student enrolled in, majoring in or showing a strong desire to major in
a course curriculum related to Natural Resource Conservation and/or Environmental
Studies and who demonstrate an active interest in conservation. Please see your
school counselor for an application. The deadline is March 2, 2016.
 The Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter, Daughters of the American
Revolution Grace L. Jones Scholarship Committee has a scholarship that will be
awarded by the Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter DAR in May to a high school
senior who intends to pursue a career in Nursing. Please see your school counselor for
an application. The deadline is March 15, 2016.
 The members of the Farmville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,
Inc. are now seeking applicants for the 2016 Scholarship Award. Delta Sigma
Theta Sorority, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services
and programs to promote scholastic achievement, human welfare, and economic

2016.
 Virginia Credit Union will again award 25 scholarships for qualified student
members, up to $2,500 each for tuition and fees for the upcoming academic year.

Educational Foundation has a scholarship available for the 2016-2017 academic

 The Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Virginia History Essay Contest for
College Scholarship is now seeking applicants. The Society of the Cincinnati in the
State of Virginia announces an essay contest for any Virginia high school senior who
will attend any four-year college or university in the Commonwealth of Virginia
beginning in the fall of 2016. The Society will award a $3,000 scholarship to the
author of each of the four essays that are judged to be the most outstanding. Please
see your History teacher or your school counselor for more information about this
scholarship. The deadline is March 18, 2016.
 The Centra Southside Community Hospital Auxiliary Health Care Scholarship
is seeking applicants. Please see your school counselor for an application. The
deadline is April 14, 2016.
 Essence of Success Scholarship was created by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority,
Incorporated the Omega Beta Zeta Chapter to encourage, support, and assist female
students currently enrolled as a Senior at Prince Edward County High School.
The Essence of Success Scholarship intends to promote scholarship amongst high
school students, encourage young females to apply for college, and to instill the true

 The US Department of Education has released a helpful new tool called College
Scorecard. The Scorecard site allows students to search colleges to find information
about graduation rates, costs, popular degree programs, average post-graduation
salaries, and more. It's a terrific resource to use with students during the college
search process.


 The Gloria Wille Bell and Carols R. Bell Charitable Trust Scholarship Program
is seeking applicants. During their lifetimes, Gloria Wille Bell and Carlos R. Bell,
longtime residents of Gloucester County, Virginia created a trust fund to provide
scholarship support to forward the careers of students pursing degrees in engineering,
mathematics, physics, computer science or another related scientific field at the
University of Michigan. The scholarship is based on academic accomplishments
rather than financial need. The scholarship program will provide up to $80,000 over
four years of undergraduate study to students selected from the Commonwealth of
