WTS Baltimore Undergraduate Scholarship 2015 - 2016 Application Form Postmarked by November 14, 2015 October 12, 2015 Dear Collegiate Professional, The Baltimore Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) would like your assistance in publicizing our annual undergraduate scholarship. We hope that you will make the enclosed information available to your top female students who are interested in pursuing a career in transportation. WTS is an international organization of professionals who are committed to the advancement of women in transportation related careers. WTS has over 4,500 female and male members, and a primary goal of the organization is to promote professional development opportunities for women in transportation-related careers. The Baltimore Chapter was founded in 1982 and promotes opportunities for women locally. WTS Baltimore offers great networking opportunities for members by holding professional activities, seminars, leadership training, and by providing access to industry and government leaders. To encourage and support women pursuing careers in a transportation related field, the WTS Baltimore chapter will award one $3,000.00 scholarship to a deserving student during the 20152016 school year. The recipient of this scholarship will also be nominated by the chapter for the WTS International Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship, which is a $5,000.00 scholarship and is awarded at the WTS Annual Conference held in May 2015. The applicant wishing to be considered for the WTS Baltimore Chapter Scholarship must fulfill the following requirements: Be a female student; Be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in a college or university in Maryland; Have a GPA that is at least 3.0 or higher; and Plan to pursue a career in a transportation-related field. All application packages must have the completed application form and must include the items listed below. They must be postmarked by November 14, 2015. WTS Baltimore Undergraduate Scholarship 2015 - 2016 Application Form Postmarked by November 14, 2015 A completed application package must include the following items: A completed WTS Baltimore Chapter Scholarship Application form The applicant’s resume including awards, honors, activities, organizations, and work experience Current official transcript (this will serve as proof of enrollment as well as program of study) Sealed recommendation letters from two professional or academic references (current or former professors or employers) A personal statement, not to exceed 500 words, that describes the applicant’s interest in pursuing a transportation career, outlines current career objectives, and identifies any affiliations and activities related to achieving the goal of a transportation career Applicants will be evaluated on various criteria including their career goals, academic performance, commitment to transportation as demonstrated by extracurricular activities and / or work experience, writing skills, and recommendations. The WTS Baltimore Scholarship Selection Committee will select the recipient, and all applicants will be notified in November 2015. The Scholarship winner will be presented with the award at the WTS Baltimore Chapter Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony on December 8, 2015.
