This Christmas, The Lyceum is delighted to present C.S. Lewis’ classic tale The Lion, the Witch and
the Wardrobe.
Step with us through a dusty wardrobe and into a snowy landscape filled with thrilling adventure. Meet
the majestic Aslan, the loveable Mr Tumnus and his fantastical friends and join their quest to free
Narnia from the spell of the White Witch.

Next winter discover the enchanted, sparkling world of Christopher Hampson’s Cinderella, in the
European premiere of this most beloved fairy tale.
In her grief, the young Cinderella plants a rose at her mother’s graveside. When her father remarries,
the future seems bleaker than ever. Her wicked stepmother is intent on pushing aside kind and
beautiful Cinderella in favour of her two nasty step sisters. The course of true love never did run
smooth but Cinderella does meet her prince and romance blossoms.
Acclaimed New Zealand designer Tracy Grant Lord’s luxurious costumes and extravagant sets create
a glittering fantasy world peopled with characters that are touching, funny and real. Dazzling against
the light and dark of Prokofiev’s powerful score, this ravishing interpretation of the timeless ragstoriches romance is everything you could wish for and more.
The Scottish Ballet Orchestra accompanies live performing the world famous Prokofiev score.

Descriptive Tour and Workshop
This revelatory exhibition of work by Scottish women artists will concentrate on painters and sculptors.
It covers the period from 1885, when Fra Newbery became Director of Glasgow School of Art, until
1965, the year of Anne Redpath’s death. More than 80 works will be shown, drawn from the National
Galleries of Scotland’s holdings and other public collections from throughout the UK, as well as from
private collections. The exhibition will include familiar masterpieces alongside important works by
significant artists which are rarely seen and who are not widely known. Artists represented range from
Bessie MacNicol, Phoebe Anna Traquair and Gertrude Alice Meredith Williams, to Margaret
Macdonald Mackintosh, Dorothy Johnstone and Hazel Armour, as well as Phyllis Bone, Joan Eardley
and Bet Low.
The event consists of a 90 minute tour in the morning, followed by a lunch break, and a 2 1/2 hour
practical workshop in the afternoon. Guides, chairs and refreshments will be provided. Please bring a
packed lunch. Booking essential.

Explore key portraits from the Portrait Gallery collection, enhanced by tactile embroidery samples
created as part of the 2014 Portrait Gallery residency of Helen McCook from the Royal School of
Needlework, Hampton Court Palace. Created in part by, and in consultation with visually impaired
participants and volunteers, the samples relate to five major portraits from the Portrait Gallery
collection - Queen Charlotte by Allan Ramsay; Henriette Anne, Duchess of Orleans by Jean Nocret;
James VI and I by Adrian Vanson; James V by an unknown artist and Anne Erskine and her
daughters by George Jameson.
The event consists of a 90 minute tour in the morning, followed by a lunch break, and a 2 1/2 hour
practical workshop in the afternoon. Guides, chairs and refreshments will be provided. Please bring a

This display of masterpieces from the collection of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art offers
an overview of some of the most remarkable art made during the last century. It features important
works from both British and European artists, and explores the vital links between artistic communities
across the UK and mainland Europe. The display traces and celebrates the major developments in
twentieth- century art, from expressionism and cubism, to abstraction and Pop Art. Among those on
show include French artist Édouard Vuillard, who shares space with Scottish Colourists JD
Fergusson, Samuel Peploe and FCB Cadell and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh. Glasgow-born
artist Steven Campbell's work Elegant Gestures of the Drowned after Max Ernst (1986) is featured as
is Silenzioso Sangue (1979/85), by Italian painter Mimmo Paladino. The display also includes four
works by sculptor, painter and printmaker William Turnbull.
