Constitution
Article I: Purpose
 The purpose of Cambodians at MIT is to bring together the Cambodian
community of MIT by organizing and celebrating Cambodian cultural events and
sharing them with the MIT community.
Article II: Membership
 Any member of the MIT community is eligible to become a member of this
organization. One is considered a member of this organization in any given
academic term if one has attended at least one club activity and one meeting in the
preceding or current term.
 The organization’s membership will at all times consist of at least 5 MIT students
and be more than half MIT students.
 This organization will not discriminate based on any characteristic listed in MIT's
Nondiscrimination Statement.
 If this organization charges any monetary dues, there will be exceptions made for
students that cannot afford these dues.
 About the Officers:
o Officer election procedure and dates (including what makes a quorum):
 Officers will be nominated and voted for by group members.
Nomination will be accepted during the first official meeting of the
semester and election will either happen on that same day or the
following week.
o Explicit terms of office of your group's officers that encompass every day
of the year
 Officers will presume their duties and responsibilities for one
academic year.
o Duties of your group's officers
 This organization will have at a minimum two officers:
 President
o The president shall be the official representative of
the group to any other organization and to MIT.
o The president will preside over all meetings.
o The president is responsible for determining when
meetings are and publicizing this to the group.
 Treasurer
o The treasurer shall be responsible for the finances of the group.
o The treasurer is required to sign all checks/vouchers of the group.
 Secretary
o Taking notes during meetings and distribute them to other members
o Making room/booth reservations for the group when needed
o Removal process for officers and conditions
 Removal: Officers may be removed by a two-thirds vote of the
members.
 The President and treasurer must be distinct current MIT students.

About Meetings:
o Meetings will be held at least every two weeks
o The president and the rest of the executive board will run the meetings
o Decisions will be put to a vote by the executive board. Majority rules the
decision.
 Amendment Procedures
o Amendments shall be presented by any member of the organization.
o Amendments shall be passed by a two-thirds voted of the members
present.
o Quorum for amending this constitution shall be two-thirds of all members
of the organization.
 The ASA Governance Clause, which states:
The Cambodians At MIT agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of the Association
of Student Activities, and its executive board. This constitution, amendments to it, and
the by-laws of this organization shall be subject to review by the ASA Executive Board
to ensure that they are in accordance with the aforementioned rules and regulations.
