PACE Briefing:
Recruitment of Treasurer and Trustees
September 2015
Lesbians, gay men and bisexual people under 40 are three times more likely than
their straight peers to have considered suicide. 48% of young trans* people have
thought of taking their own life.
PACE exists to create better LGBT+ mental health and wellbeing. We are 30 this
year and our Trustees have developed an ambitious new strategic plan, which
positions us as the LGBT+ mental health charity.
Our respected services include specialist counselling, group work, advocacy,
relationship coaching and support for young people and those suffering domestic
abuse. We are also establishing a training unit for mainstream relationship
organisations, supporting their staff to build their skills and confidence to work
more effectively with LGBT+ people.
In our 30th year we are seeking a Treasurer and new Trustees to join our small,
committed Board, to bring new skills and expertise to ensure we have the most
effective governance for the organisation as we move forwards.
Trustees
If you are LGBT+ and feel passionately about making lasting improvements to
LGBT+ people’s lives, we would like to hear from you. We ask for a reliable
commitment of five hours per month, to read papers, attend Board Meetings and
to keep up with emails in between meetings. We are particularly keen to attract
people who are from a broad range of backgrounds and who are able to bring
insight, commitment and energy to the Board.
Treasurer
The Treasurer will have a strong financial background at a senior level, and be
able to understand and interrogate PACE’s finances in order to communicate
confidently to the rest of the Board that the charity is being properly managed.
The Treasurer and the Head of Finance & Resources will need to work effectively
together to ensure good quality, timely financial information is available to the
Board, to facilitate effective decision-making.
LGBT+ people from BAME communities, bi-women, bi-men and trans*
people are particularly encouraged to apply as these people are underrepresented on the Board at the present time.
This is an unpaid position but travel and childcare/carer expenses are available.
If you would like to apply please enclose your current cv and a covering letter
outlining which position you are interested in, why you are interested in the
position and what specific skills, expertise and interests you will bring. Email
your cv and covering letter to recruitment@pacehealth.org.uk.
The closing date for applications is 16 October 2015.
