The Affiliate will work to focus additional educational, screening and treatment resources within these communities as we serve the entire 10-parish area. Additionally, we will work with parish leaders to understand the impact of breast cancer within their communities, and to support and develop programs that address the cultural and educational barriers that exist in these parishes. In an effort to reduce the rate of late stage diagnosis among African-American women, the Affiliate will continue to fund programs and efforts aimed at addressing early detection, education and access to health care.
