We are happy you have chosen to live in East Campus! We understand the benefits of bringing your Pet from home or adding a new companion while you are busy studying! In order to make sure you and your pet have a positive experience in the community, we have created a process and policies to ensure the safety and comfort for the entire East Campus community! Registration Procedure: Each student is required to submit the information listed below. All students will receive written notification via email that their pet has been approved to come to campus. Note that approval is contingent on space availability. The number of pets is limited to two (2) per apartment and is based on size. Residents must obtain prior approval from roommates prior to having pets in the apartment. Please see section 18 of SH&RL East Campus Housing Community Standards: Pets for more information. 1. 2. New Students: Please indicate your interest in having a pet on your Housing Application and complete the separate Pet Application Form Online. Shortly after submitting the electronic Pet Application, you will receive an email from the Student Housing & Residential Life including the full Pet Application Packet. Current Students: Request a Pet Application Packet. You can request this by emailing eastcampusstudenthousing@csumb.edu or by visiting the Student Housing & Residential Life: East Campus Office. a. Talk to your roommate(s) about your pet; the Pet Agreement will need to be signed by your roommate(s). Complete the Pet Application Packet, which should include: a. The Pet Agreement (for current students) and Pet Registration Form. b. Vaccination Records and certification of spay or neuter provided by Veterinarian (available upon request). c. Verification that pet has tags (remember: pet must wear them at all times). d. A clear and current photo of pet. e. Receipt of paid Pet Deposit of $250. Your completed packet must be turned in and approved before bringing your pet to campus. Once your materials have been submitted and reviewed, you will receive notification that your pet has been approved to live on campus via email. Licensee shall be liable for all damages or expenses incurred by or in connection with pet(s), regardless of the amount of security deposit, and shall hold Student Housing & Residential Life (SH&RL) harmless and indemnify SH&RL for any and all damages or costs in connection with pet(s). SH&RL reserves the right to off-set the cost of pet(s) damages to the community against Licensee’s pet(s) deposit during the term of the Agreement and require the Licensee to redeposit the amount of pet(s) Deposit specified herein. In the event of default by Licensee of any of the terms, Licensee agrees, within 3 (three) days after receiving written notice of default by SH&RL, to cure the default or vacate the premises. Licensee agrees SH&RL may revoke permission to keep said pet(s) on the premises by giving 3 (three) days’ notice. The pet(s) deposit shall be refundable subject to verification of the condition of the premises and in accordance with the applicable provisions with respect to security deposits at the end of the License term. Removal of the pet(s) will not be grounds for early disbursement of any portion of the security deposit. Licensee must pay a refundable pet(s) deposit in the amount of $250.00 p e r p e t (s ) w i t h a m a x i m u m o f t w o p e t (s ) (this does not apply to students with approved service animals). The refundable deposit shall be subject to full inspection of the apartment upon Licensee’s move out and shall be considered based upon the condition of the apartment. Licensee agrees to comply with all applicable ordinances, regulations and laws governing pet(s)s. This includes Cal State Monterey Bay’s “Animals on Campus Policy” which can be found by visiting: http://policy.csumb.edu/animals-campus- policy. Pet(s) are defined as dogs and cats hereinafter. No amphibians or reptiles permitted within East Campus Housing. No live food is permitted for the purpose of feeding pet(s), to include rodents and crickets. Dogs and cats are required to be "house-broken." Cats must be litter-box trained. No pet(s) may be kept, bred or maintained for any commercial purposes. Licensee agrees that no pet(s) offspring will be allowed to remain on the premises. Licensee agrees that pet(s) will not be permitted outside Licensee’s apartment unless restrained by a leash. Use of the grounds or premises for sanitary purposes is prohibited. Please note that landscape pesticides and chemicals are used on the grounds of the community and therefore special care should be taken when walking your pet(s). Pet(s) are not to be tied or staked outside the apartment. Licensee may not leave a pet(s) on balconies, porches or patios for extended periods of time. If pet(s) is a fish, the water container shall not be over 10 gallons and will be placed in a safe location in the apartment. Licensee shall not permit, and represents, pet(s) will not cause any damage, discomfort, annoyance, nuisance or in any way inconvenience, or cause complaints, from any other Licensee. Licensee shall prevent any fleas or other infestation of the unit or other property of the SH&RL. Any “mess” created by Pet(s) shall immediately be cleaned up by Licensee. If Licensee does not clean up after said pet(s), Licensee will be subject to conduct and assessed a fee. The Licensee will be asked to remove any pet(s) that constantly bothers other residents, whether inside or outside, or constitutes a problem or obstruction to the agents and employees from properly performing their functions, duties and responsibilities. If Licensee fails to remove said pet(s) following complaints from residents and requests from SH&RL, the License may be terminated. All pet(s) shall have all required vaccinations. Pet(s) owners may have to show proof of vaccinations if requested. Dogs are required to have a current license and an identification tag at all times. Licensee agrees that all pet(s) h a v e b e e n s p a y e d o r n e u t e r e d . Feral cats cannot be fed or kept on the property. Dangerous, illegal or poisonous animals will not be permitted on the property. Residents are not allowed to keep endangered species. Exotic animals are not allowed on the property. Residents are not allowed to harass, feed, or take any wildlife on the property. Patios and backyards should be kept clean of pet(s) droppings (usually daily). Especially during hot weather, odors can be extremely offensive to neighbors. One suggestion is to buy a small plastic or metal trash can with a lid that fits tightly and line it with a plastic bag to simplify the process. Residents will not discard of fecal matter by either burying it in the yard or common areas, or by in the yard or common areas, or by throwing it into undeveloped areas. Also, please avoid leaving pet(s) food outside for prolonged periods as it will attract pests. Current East Campus Frederick Park Apartment Housing residents are allowed to have amphibians or reptiles that can humanely live in a 10 gallon aquarium. Pets – 6 – Live Food (EC 2014--‐2015): crickets. No live food is permitted for the purpose of feeding current pets. This includes rodents and Pets – 7 – “House Broken” (EC 2014--‐2015): Dogs and cats are required to be “house-broken.” Cats must be litter-box trained. Pets – 8 – Commercial Purposes (EC 2014--‐2015): Pets – 9 – Offspring (EC 2014--‐2015): No pets may be kept, bred or maintained for any commercial purposes. Tenant agrees that no offspring will be allowed to remain on the premises. Pets – 10 – Leash (EC 2014--‐2015): Licensee agrees that Pets will not be permitted outside Licensee’s apartment unless restrained by a leash. Pets – 15 – Unspayed Pets (EC 2014--‐2015): Residents with unspayed pets will be required to supervise and securely confine female dogs and cats during their estrus cycle to prevent accidental breeding. SH&RL East Campus Pets – 16 – Miscellaneous Animals (EC 2014--‐2015): Feral cats cannot be fed or kept on the property. Dangerous, illegal or poisonous animals will not be permitted on the property. Residents are not allowed to keep endangered species. Exotic animals are not allowed on the property. Residents are not allowed to harass, feed, or take any wildlife on the property. Licensee may have two small dogs, or a combination of one (1) small dog and a cat, or two (2) cats. Dogs are only allowed in the downstairs apartments. Licensee’s with dogs exceeding 50 lbs. will only be permitted to have one dos. Residents must obtain prior approval from roommates prior to having pets in the apartment. Note: Dogs specially used for a sight, hearing, or mobility impaired student, may be allowed with a special accommodation recommendation supplied by Student Disability Resource Center (SDR). If this exception is granted the owner/resident assumes full responsibility for the care and upkeep, as well as any damage and/or cleaning fees of the room/apartment. No Pet deposit will be required.
