Each week you will be assigned 5 new Greek and Latin roots to memorize.
Please complete the following assignments:
IN CLASS:
On the blank side of a 3 x 5 card, write the root.
On the other side of the card, write the meaning of the root. Draw a line below it.
Below the meaning of the root, write several words (at least THREE) that use that root. Use a dictionary and any prior knowledge you may have.
Be prepared for the class share-out of words using the G/L roots.
FOR HOMEWORK:
Complete the vocabulary definitions and sentences. o Use smooth-edged, loose leaf notebook paper. o Write neatly.
Follow the following format:
Write the root(s) and meaning(s). Number the root and draw a box around it.
Skip a line, then letter as follows:
W
– Write one word using the root, and highlight it.
D – Write the definition for that word. Use a dictionary.
S – Use the word correctly in a complete sentence. Underline the word.

S – Use the second word correctly in a complete sentence. Underline the word.
Complete this activity for all FIVE roots you are learning.
EXAMPLE:

S – In biology class, we studied about plants and animals.
W – Biome
D – A division of all the world’s vegetation that corresponds to a particular climate and is characterized by certain types of plants and animals.
S – In a rainforest biome, you might find monkeys, parrots, and insects.
30 points are possible, one per each word, definition, and sentence . In cases where there are several roots with the same meaning , you will need to do only two word/definition/sentence sets per root.
Please write good sentences with varying length and vocabulary.
