Can you imagine the world without winter? Earth has been warmer and warmer
nowadays. Therefore, global warming becomes a big issue all over the world.
Glaciers in polar regions is melting and animals there have been vanishing because of
the high temperatures. Also, people who live in tropical regions can’t stand the hot
weather. The hot weather causes droughts and such damages make more and more
people move to the mid-latitudes area. So, the best way to stop global warming is to
start building green buildings.
First of all, green buildings are easier to maintain and built to last. So, they can also
maintain more time than normal houses. The elements of green buildings are valuable
and efficient. So that it is not easy to destroy green buildings. For example, the
famous exhibition in Taiwan, Flora Expo, which have many exhibition halls are green
buildings. They can preserve for a long long time.
In addition, green buildings can make buildings more energy efficient. Things that
make them become more energy efficient can save household and electricity. Some
household appliances might cost you a lot money. But if we truly live energy efficient,
sometimes a simple upgrade can use very long. They also cost less to heat, cool and
light. “Existing homes and commercial spaces can be retrofitted to save energy by

weatherizing and installing energy efficient heating, cooling and lighting systems.”
(Natural Resources Defense Council) Because they use natural power, that’s why they
can save the usage amount of energy resources.
Lastly, green buildings improve health. They emphasize non-toxic materials.
“Understanding that nontoxic buildings are healthier for occupants and the planet,
green buildings are those that minimize the use of health-harming materials.” (Times
Business Solutions Limited) These materials won’t cause any diseases and they are
good for environment and our own health. Today, one of the biggest problem we have
in the world is there are too many kinds of pollution. Conversely, there green
buildings won’t cause any pollution.
Some people think that green buildings cost a lot of additional spendings, but that is
only because the project of building green houses isn’t common right now, if we want
to have a green building, it will cost a lot on manpower and financial capability.
Although the additional costs are usually balanced out by the energy savings, it is still
extra money coming out of your pocket. Also, the prices of those energy efficient
things are really high.
The best way to reduce global warming is having green buildings. Green buildings

can provide a healthy and comfortable environment. So that people don’t need to
worry about if they are contaminating the earth or not. By having green buildings, the
world can have the regular seasons in every year.
