We’ll choose some of your food favorites and learn how to make them from scratch. You’ll practice basic knife skills, cooking techniques, learn about food safety and table manners with Jen Antila of Catalyst Cooks. Cost: $40 (includes food). Cost: $35. 8 Tuesdays @ 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Oct. 8 – Dec. 10 PAY IT FORWARD… HELPING RESCUE ANIMALS (GRADES 3-6): FUREVERKINDNESS.ORG a newly formed organization that needs help making cat toys, dog blankets, collecting food and other supplies for rescue animals. Cost: $30. 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Oct. 8 – Dec. 10 WEAVING (GRADES 1-3): Using yarn, string, beads, wire and more weave a variety of fabulous projects (they will make nice gifts). Oct. 8 – Dec. 10 FINGER KNITTING MADNESS (GRADES k-2): Your hands will keep very busy in the class (of course we will giggle and have snack together too). We’ll accompany your fruit art with fun dipping sauces and sides from scratch, while learning some basic knife skills, kitchen safety, and table manners with Jen Antila of Catalyst Cooks! Want to YOUNG DANCE FOR ALL ABILITIES (GRADES 3-6): RED CROSS BABYSITTER TRAINING (AGES 11+) Young Dance has a 25 year history of transforming lives through movement in south Minneapolis. In this class students will explore the language of dance with a focus on positive body awareness, creativity and collaboration. This class is for boys and girls and open to anyone with or without disabilities. (class can be ASL interpreted upon request). Instructor: Young Dance Staff. Cost: $60 (make your checks payable to young dance) 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Oct. 10 – Dec. 12 Learn basic safety, how to handle difficult situations, first aid, and the importance of being a positive role model and leader to young children. JOURNAL MAKING, CURSIVE AND CALLIGRAPHY (GRADES 3-6): Write a fancy letter to someone in beautiful cursive and learn the art of calligraphy. We will start the session by making a handmade journal and spend the following weeks filling it with thoughts and letters. Instructor: Bonita Thurner. Cost: $40 (includes supplies). Oct. 10 – Dec. 12 turn that into $200,000? We will learn about stock trading, investment strategies, and each participant will get $100,000 (fake, unfortunately) to invest, using simulation software, in the real stock market! Friday, Nov. 1 FIELD TRIP TO VERTICAL ENDEAVORS ROCK CLIMBING (AGES 10+)This field trip includes Vertical Endeavors instructors, harness rentals, and all the climbing kids can handle in two hours.
