Wedding Congratulations to
Katrina Ellis-Moore and Harry Moore
Katrina Ellis is the Library TA at the Antwerp, Theresa and Philly Schools in the Indian
River District. She married a wonderful man named Harry Moore on May 4th. They had
a lovely wedding ceremony and a very fun reception that included her library coworkers
at Indian River.
Changes to NOVELny Databases
There have been additions and deletions to the NOVELny Databases. If your district
has placed an order for the products that have been added for the 2013-2014 school
the SLS will not place the order for your district. The complete list is at the end of this
newsletter. Attached to the May 17th SLS Weekly Digest email is a list of NOVELny
databases with descriptions.

Madison-Oneida BOCES Media Librarian/Itinerant Elementary School Librarian
Location: Canastota CSD Elementary, Madison-Oneida BOCES-Center for
Instructional Support, Costello Building, Oneida, NY
Term of Employment: 10-Month, full-time Salary: Contingent upon education and
experience and according to the Madison-Oneida BOCES Teacher Contract
Starting Date: September 1, 2013
Duties: Shared position. Elementary school library instruction and collection
management. Other duties as Media Librarian: responsible for collection development
and cataloging of media and instruction to component districts and BOCES campus on
classroom integration of media resources. The position requires the promotion of
information literacy through the use of the Empire State Information Fluency
Continuum to support the Common Core Learning Standards
Qualifications: NYS certification as School Library Media Specialist required

2013 Media Literacy Grant Applications
For the past several years, the EMTA has awarded grants to educators and media
professionals in New York State to fund projects in media literacy education. This year,
applications are due May 24, 2013 for projects planned during the 2013-1014 school
year. Please share this information with anyone that you think might be interested and
promote the grant opportunity through any methods and media you use in your region.

Changes in NOVELNY offerings beginning July 1, 2013
1) The New York State Library is no longer offering;
a) Primary Search which includes Kids Search and Searchasaurus from Ebsco. If
a school wishes to continue to use this resource they will have to purchase
it. The pricing will be $299 per school.
b) Twayne's Author Series from Gale Cengage. If a school wishes to continue to
use this resource they will have to purchase it. I am working on pricing for
Twayne's.
c) JobNow/Adult Learning Center.
2) The New York State Library has added:
a) eLibrary Elementary from ProQuest
b) Kids InfoBits from Gale Cengage
c) Gannett Newsstand Complete, which includes the following NY papers:
