Message from the Premier
The Andrews Labor Government is helping small business thrive.
More than 525,000 Victorian small businesses provide around half of the state’s
private sector jobs and contribute a third of the state’s output in goods and
services.
Small businesses are the heart and soul of so many Victorian communities, with
over 28 per cent of the state’s small businesses in Regional Victoria.
The Andrews Labor Government will help create 100,000 new jobs by offering
payroll tax relief to companies who hire unemployed youth and retrenched
workers.
It is investing in the sectors where Victoria is poised to lead the world.
The Labor Government also supports small business growth through major
initiatives, such as the Small Business Festival Victoria, which assists
entrepreneurs and small business operators get the technology, training and
skills they need.
This year’s festival will feature a month-long program of over 300 events on
topics ranging from marketing and export potential, to financial management
and technology.
It also offers small businesses an introduction to the range of government
services available year-round and an opportunity to be inspired by successful
business leaders.
The Small Business Festival Victoria 2015 will have two new regional festivals
in Mildura and Shepparton, which will give many more people the chance to get
involved.
We encourage small businesses across Victoria, and people planning to start
up a business, to take advantage of what Small Business Festival Victoria 2015
has to offer.
The Hon Daniel Andrews, MP:
Premier of Victoria
