ALL CLASSSES: Know the definitions and how to spell the words on the Word Wall.
5th grade ELA Pretest Lesson Spelling 7 on Wednesday, October 21. If student scores 94% or better, he/she is exempt from
Friday’s Spelling Test.
 Spelling Test Lesson 7 on Friday, October 23.
 DOL and Journal notebooks due on Friday, October 23. Students must have correct answer to each DOL and five
sentences (unless accommodations have been made). PARENTS: Check your child’s notebooks before Fridays
to make sure they are current! DOL/Journals are always due the last day of the week.
 Final copy of descriptive paper due on Friday, October 23. Skip lines or type double-spaced. Students are
working on the paper in class. They are describing one of three items in the class (a vase of flowers, a stuffed
animal, or a “lamb”).

7th grade Literature Students are using the school’s Kindle’s to read “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” in class. If students are absent,
please obtain an Internet copy for the students. Recommendation: Allow your students to listen to an audio
version of the story at the end of the week for reinforcement, especially for non-English speakers.

Announcement concerning Treat Fest, Friday, October 30 from 1:00 P.M. – 2:45 P.M.
8th grade is offering presale tickets for activities and food as well as certificates for “Fee Dress” and Spooky Bags. Also,
we hope our students enter the Pumpkin Decorating Contest or the Costume Contest. Parents who are Virtus certified
are welcomed to attend. Contact Mrs. Stepleton-Hitt with any questions. If you did not receive a letter concerning the
activities and events, let me know and I can have one delivered to you either via email or through your student.
