Changing the grouping of three or more factors does not change the product. Changing the order of the factors does not change the product When one of the factors of a product is the sum, multiplying each addend before adding does not change the product. groups, set, ÷, division, divisor, dividend, quotient divide, quotient, dividend A number that is divided by another number. To find the value of a mathematical expression A group of related fact that use the same numbers The whole numbers that are multiplied to get a product If you add zero to a number, the sum is the same as the number If you multiply a number one the product is the same as that number Is not the same as , ǂ 2 Grade 3 Key Vocabulary by Domain 3 multiple 3 multiply 3 order of operation 3 product 3 quotient 3 reasonableness 3 remainder 3 round a whole number 3 Zero Property of Multiplication Grade Word and Phrase 3 denominator 3 eighths 3 equivalent fractions Thinking Operations and Algebraic Thinking Operations and Algebraic Thinking Operations and Algebraic Thinking Operations and Algebraic Thinking Operations and Algebraic Thinking Operations and Algebraic Thinking Operations and Algebraic Thinking Operations and Algebraic Thinking Operations and Algebraic Thinking Core Domain Number and Operation Fractions Number and Operation Fractions Number and Operation Fractions 3 numerator Number and Operation Fractions 3 parentheses Number and Draft- NDTC August 2011 The operation of repeated addition of the same number A set of rules that tells the order in which to compute The answer to a multiplication problem. the answer to a division problem an answer that is based on good number sense In whole number division, when you have divided as far as you can without using decimals, what has not been divided yet is called the remainder To find the nearest ten, hundred, thousand,(and so on) The product of any number and zero is zero Definition/ Related Words The bottom number in a fraction. It tells how many equal parts are in a whole. fraction, ratio The parts you get when you divide something into eight equal parts Fractions that have the same value The number written above the line in a fraction. When simplifying and expression, the operation within the parentheses are preformed first. The parts you get when you divide something into eight equal parts A fraction that has one as its numerator Definition/ Related Words The measure, in square units, of the inside of a plane figure. length, width, 𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑠 2 The amount of time that is past.(a time interval) The standard unit of mass in the metric system. A metric unit of mass equal to 1000 grams The basic unit of capacity in the metric system, One liter equals 1000 milliliters. The amount of matter in an object. Usually measured by comparing with an object of known mass. While gravity influences weight, it does not affect math. The distance around a figure. A unit, such square centimeter or square inch, used to measure area. A duration of a segment of time(elapse time) The number of cubic unit it takes to fill a figure.
