National Center for Physician Training in Addiction Medicine Fellowship Milestone Evaluation & Assessment SBIRT Linked Milestone What is the purpose of using the SBIRT Milestone? The SBIRT Milestone includes the competency levels (knowledge, skills, attitudes, and performance) to be achieved by the Fellows during Year 1 of their Addiction Medicine Fellowship. The Milestones are designed to help all Fellowship Programs produce highly competent physicians to meet the health and health care needs of the public within Addiction Medicine. How can Fellowship Program Directors use the SBIRT Milestone to guide program development? The Milestone will allow the Program Directors to track the progress of their Fellows. The Milestone can: Guide the curriculum development of the Fellowship Program; Guide the assessment strategies used by the Program (provide more specific feedback and evaluation to their Fellows); Provide the Fellows with benchmarks for self-directed study; Assist with remediation of the Fellow by facilitating the identification of deficits; and Ensure that the Fellows acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes for advancing the program and towards becoming agents of change. Why do we need to fill out the Milestones Quarterly? The SBIRT Milestone serves multiple functions: Allows the Fellowship Program to track the progress of their Fellows, and guides the creations and use of curriculum & the training needs of their fellows. Allows the Fellowship Program to assess their fellows on a regular basis so that the Fellows may receive constructive guidance on their progress throughout their Fellowship Allows the National Center to collect information on: o The progression of the Fellows competency levels from baseline to completion of Year 1 o the total number of physicians the Fellows trained during Year 1 o What types of Curriculum Activities each Program developed and utilized with the Fellows o Documentation of the efforts and accomplishments of the Fellowship Programs and the Fellows National Center for Physician Training in Addiction Medicine Fellowship Curriculum Map Intended Learning Outcomes of the National Center for Addiction Training Intended Learning Outcomes of the Fellowship Program Intended Learning Outcomes of the Program Activities Center Standards guide the creation of the Milestones The Milestones guide the Fellowship Programs in Curriculum Planning & Evaluation.
